Press conferences with Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh are always interesting (not) particularly in the way he describes upcoming opponents and how he manages the injury report.
If you take his word at face value opposing situational substitutes down on the depth chart are sure-fire future Hall of Famers. Players who have little chance of playing are feeling great while others not on the injury report struggle physically from week to week.
It’s the con game – the art of deception.
Recently during the same day John Harbaugh was questioned on the team’s offseason plans and if they plan to be active in free agency. Here’s the first thing the Ravens’ skipper had to say on the topic:
“We’ve got some pretty good cap room. We’re really good in cash. We can do some things in contracts. We’re looking at signing some young guys, maybe ahead of time. We’ve got a lot of plans at the table. It will be fun to see how it shakes out.”
Within minutes of this “convincing” response Harbaugh was questioned on the Ravens interest in Mike Wallace should the speedy Steelers receiver be exposed as a Restricted Free Agent.
“I don’t see us spending high numbers on a wide receiver,” Harbaugh said. “We just don’t have the cap room. It wouldn’t be a smart way to distribute the money. You get the right player for the right price, then you have to look at it.”
Anyone else notice Harbs’ lying eyes?
