The stars shined bright at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland on Monday night as the Anquan Boldin Foundation held its second annual Charity Dinner to benefit the Q81 Foundation and its continued support in the Baltimore, Phoenix, and South Florida communities.
Approximately 180 people were on hand to honor the Ravens Pro Bowl wide receiver for his work in the community and to celebrate the veteran’s 10 years in the NFL. “It’s been a dream come true. I think everyone knows that the life expectancy of an NFL player is about three years. For me to be able to play 10 years at a high level is definitely a dream for me,” stated Boldin when asked about his ten years in the league.
Boldin, the 2010 Ravens’ Walter Payton May of the Year award winner has an eight-year history of helping youth programs by providing grants, donations of gifts, summer camps, dental programs, shopping sprees, and food programs.
The South Florida resident continues to pave roads in the community. This past summer, the Q81 Foundation, in partnership with Florida Crystals, facilitated a second annual eight-week summer enrichment camp for high school youth. This program helped 30 students increase their GPA as well as four student-athletes became eligible to participate in sports the Fall term.
“To see people improve their lives. Anywhere you go there are going to be people who struggle. I am not where I am just to be here, I think God put me in a position to help others. I just want to be a good steward of that and continue to help people any way that I can,” responded “Q” when asked about his continuance of giving back to the community.
Joining Anquan on his celebration night were teammates Ed Reed, Matt Birk, Bernard Pollard and Vonta Leach.
“Just look at what the Boldins are doing. Him and his wife have done so much for the community and in other countries. They are always trying to help someone or somebody and my wife and I are here to support them.” Bernard Pollard said about his presence for this wonderful cause.
The night was filled with music, games, pictures and a incredible silent auction of some of Anquan’s prized memorabilia. The night included a presentation during the charity dinner of how the Boldin’s are accomplishing their dream of giving back to the community.
Maryland, Florida, Arizona and even Africa are lucky to have “Q” fighting for them not just on Sunday’s but off the field as well.
