Arthur makes a case to keep up with the Joneses

Arthur Jones has long been hiding in the shadows waiting for his time to shine. Yesterday against the San Diego Chargers, Jones got his chance and made the most of it with a career day.

Jones is the oldest of three boys who are all professional athletes. His youngest brother, Chandler Jones, was a first round draft pick this year and currently plays defensive end for the New England Patriots where he is transforming into one of the league’s next premier defenders. His other younger brother, Jon “Bones” Jones, is the current UFC Lightweight Champion and is ranked by many as one of the best, if not the best, fighters in the world.

While his brothers have been basking in their newfound fame, I’ve always felt bad for Arthur who has yet to match the early successes of his more accomplished siblings. A 5th round pick in 2010, Arthur was the first of his family in the NFL, but didn’t see much action during the first few years of his career. With some major injuries hurting the Ravens defense this year, Jones was finally able to crack the starting lineup and came up huge yesterday in San Diego.

Jones came into the day without a sack in his career, but left the game with two. These were just two of a total of six sacks for the Ravens on the day and both were able to halt San Diego drives.

In addition to the big sacks, Jones also had four tackles, which was tied for third most on the Ravens for the day. And if he continues to have games like these, notoriety in the Jones household will no longer be an issue for Arthur.
