Not Lardarius Webb!

Like most football fans in America I found it extremely difficult to give my attention to the BCS Championship featuring the Alabama Crimson Tide and the completely overmatched Golden Domers from Notre Dame.

Apparently play-by-play man Brent Musberger couldn’t focus on the game either as he and analyst Kirk Herbstreit drooled over Miss Alabama Katherine Webb who just happens to double as Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend.

Today he’s known more for that thanks to Brent and Kirk than he is for being the signal caller for the country’s national champion.

It’s really Notre Dame’s fault. Had they been able to capture your attention and mine along with that of the announcers and the cameramen, Katherine’s Twitter following would not have jumped from 12,000 to 216,000+.

Here’s what got the trend started…

The Non-Fighting Irish’s head coach Brian Kelly probably convinced viewers to head off to bed and not bother with the second half (much to the dismay of sponsors) when he hinted that the only chance Notre Dame had is if Alabama didn’t come out for the second half. (Link)

But back to that horndog Brent Musberger, the pining for Katherine Webb did not go unnoticed by his employers at ESPN.

“We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that.”

I’d personally like to thank Brent. We have been considering a replacement for Megan Fox in The Good, Bad, Ugly & The Megan Fox and now, we just may have found one.
