This is who we are. This is what we live for. This is the type of game the Baltimore Ravens have built a foundation on for so many years. Look around. Look at all the doubters. Ravens can’t win this game. Ravens have no shot. The Ravens have been here before. They have won many of these matchups in the past.
There are so many writers around the country being so arrogant about this game. Like the Baltimore Ravens have no business being in this game. The only team in the NFL that has made the playoffs in the last five years has no shot. If the Patriots were in the same situation, do you honestly think the media would say they have no shot? No, they would be praising the Pats about their organization and how Tom Brady is a mastermind and they can’t be defeated even though their defense is still garbage. Every other team in the NFL has a built in excuse if they are winners, but for some reason Baltimore doesn’t get that.
We Know as Raven fans what it is like to be looked upon as, “the other team.” It’s been that way for a long time. No matter how many playoff wins the Ravens have, no matter how many playoff appearances the Ravens have, no matter how many times the Ravens go on the road to defeat another team, “they” will always doubt us.
Earlier this week ESPN made a poll saying 75% of America thinks the Ravens will lose. Let me remind you, this is the same America last week that had 60% saying the Colts would win. Looks like Baltimore is going to have to prove the rest of America wrong again.
Just like Ray Lewis was told as an individual that he was too small for the NFL, the Ravens are constantly told that they aren’t good enough. Well, “they” just don’t understand the intangibles. The Ravens have always been a team that relies on emotion. I don’t think there is another team in the NFL that plays and relies on emotion more than the Ravens.
There is a reason why the Ravens lead the NFL in road playoff wins since 2000 with seven. Because no matter how many times they are told that they can’t, they don’t buckle. They go out and play Ravens football.
It’s what we live for as fans. We relish being underdogs.
For the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland, let’s go Ravens.
