Boston’s Mayor continues to embarrass himself while talking sports

Here we go again.

Earlier this week, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake had to accept an I.O.U. as Denver’s Mayor Michael Hancock wasn’t able to pay off part of his bet for the Broncos losing to the Ravens last Saturday. Hancock was supposed to perform Ray Lewis’ classic “squirrel” dance but had to take a raincheck after allegedly injuring himself during “pre-game warmups,” according to a spokesperson from his office.

As the Ravens advance to the AFC Championship, Rawlings-Blake will have another Mayoral match-up with the legendary bumbling Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.

If you aren’t familiar with Menino, you’re in for a treat!

At this point, Menino should impeach himself from further sports references because at some point the residents of Beantown will lose faith in their longest-tenured Mayor in history.

To put it lightly, Menino wouldn’t know that a football is brown, baseballs are round and leprechauns aren’t native to Boston, even though one appears as the Celtics mascot. Whenever Menino ends his career in politics, it’s certain he won’t have an offer waiting from NESN (New England Sports Network) to begin a career in broadcasting.

In Menino’s mind, the Patriots play in “Foxboro Stadium” (even though it’s named Gillette Stadium), the Patriots have a wide receiver named “Wes Weckler” who surprisingly looks a lot like Wes Welker, and during basketball season cheers for “K.J. and Hondo” even though they’re spitting images of Kevin Garnett (K.G.) and Rajon Rondo.

While on the phone today placing his wager with Rawlings-Blake, Menino continued his long streak of fumbling and bumbling names of local sports superstars, clearly displaying he has no idea what is going on and what an AFC Championship game even means.

Looking down at his legal pad full of “trash talk” notes of why the Patriots will win, Menino blubbered, “We have Tom Brady here,” three times until he looked to his paper and said, “…and Stephen Ridley, another great guy.”

The reason Ravens running back Ray Rice may have a difficult time rushing on Sunday will not be because of Vince Wilfork, no, he better watch out for “Wilcock” instead.

The Patriots have had to deal with injuries of their own as one of the NFL’s best tight ends will miss the remainder of the playoffs with a broken forearm. “Hern….Hernandez is going to do a great job as he steps in for Gonk because Gonk’s hurt,” Menino said while looking at the paper.

“Gonk”…… really?

Clearly Menino has either Gronk-spiked his beverages with a little liquid enhancement while on the job or he really is the most illiterate and buffoon of a person in United States political history…at least when it comes to sports!

Menino may be horrible at pronouncing names but he has somehow stayed Boston’s Mayor since 1993. In 1998, Menino was “killed” by radio hosts Opie and Anthony after they pulled an April Fool’s Day prank saying Menino was killed in a car accident while driving around with a young Hatian prostitute. The duo was eventually fired but has since had a very successful radio career.
