Today we are all Bostonians

Share
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Yesterday I walked into our office after an appointment and was quickly greeted by the unfolding tragedy, taking place in Boston.

A solemn hush fell over our humble work abode.

No one said much yet the silence spoke volumes.

America once again was under attack!

As updates on the situation rolled in I couldn’t help but to think that these violent attacks are just happening far too frequently in our country. So much so that it seems as though we simply accept them as a way of life.

With each horrifying tale of terror, our freedoms erode as our safety diminishes. And the perpetrators simply rub it in our face and laugh as if they’ve fulfilled a mission from some warped sense of faith through worship in gods that they believe condone such acts as part of their path to a higher calling.

Yesterday these terrorists chose Patriot Day in Boston simply to rub our nose in it and break down the fabric of America.

But what these heinous cowards fail to realize is that isn’t how Americans are wired. Yesterday all Americans became Bostonians. That’s what we do when WE are under attack.

We won’t roll over. We’ll collectively demand answers and maybe we’ll get them. Maybe we’ll get fake answers to diffuse the need for retribution. Who knows?

Time will pass and because we are a forgiving nation we’ll turn the other cheek. We’ll get complacent and the terror will reign down again! This is where leadership kicks in.

Isn’t it time that we protect our borders?

Isn’t it time that we stop rolling out the welcome mat to aliens who not only fail to contribute to our society but promote its decay?

Isn’t it time we realize that political correctness isn’t always correct?

And isn’t it time we simply do the greatest good for the greatest number and not cater to the whims of the vocal minority?

Failure to do any of these things will help to nick off your freedoms one by one until one day you’ll look around and not even recognize the place. Days when you are supposed to be celebrating Patriot Day and the winner of the Boston Marathon instead will be marked by death, scars, tainted traditions and a desire to retaliate.

You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything!

I pledge allegiance to the flag,
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one nation under God, indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all.

Our leaders better get it right soon or that indivisible part could be a problem.
