Urlacher versus Lewis? No contest

Reading Time: 2 minutes
As we all know, linebacker Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears retired after spending his entire 13-year career with the team, just three months after Ray Lewis retired from our very own Baltimore Ravens. But since Urlacher retired earlier in the week, I did some research, looking into what Bears fans thought of him, because it seems that whenever Urlacher’s name comes up it is more than likely Lewis’ name does as well.
And I was right.

For whatever reason, there are quite a few Bears fans that think Urlacher is better than Lewis, which shows how delusional some of them are. That’s not so say Urlacher is not a future Hall of Famer; I actually think he is.

But he is not on Lewis’ level. He just isn’t.

Now, from the outside looking in, fans from other teams might say, “Well this is a Ravens site! Would you think anything less?” I would say that I or any other Ravens fan are not homers for thinking Lewis is better. Lewis being better is a reality. Even if we rooted for a different team, it wouldn’t change the fact that at all.

You talk about a player in Lewis who is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Super Bowl MVP and a two-time Super Bowl winner. Lewis is also the only player in NFL history with 40+ sacks, 30+ interceptions, with 20 forced fumbles and 20 fumble recoveries to go with over 2,000 tackles. Nobody in the history of this league has that resume.

Urlacher has even been on record admitting that Lewis is better. Here is what he had to say on NFL Network (video).

The game has changed so much since Lewis and Urlacher entered the league; they both, undoubtedly, had a lot to do with that.

But Lewis will always be on top when comparing the two.
