Though the Ravens are almost four months removed from their Super Bowl victory, for some players and fans, the celebration is still carrying on. Winning a Super Bowl has many positives, but with the season extending into February, that means a shorter offseason to prepare. With the whirlwind period of free agency and the draft in the rearview mirror, the Ravens finally hit the field again for their first Organized Team Activity (OTA).
It’s the first time since way back in 2001 that the Ravens gather as defending Super Bowl champions. So does the coach feel like things have changed?
“No, I don’t think so,” Harbaugh said when asked if this OTA feels any different now that he has a Super Bowl ring on the way. “That’s a question probably that is a little more, in all honesty, a more in-depth question than just how it feels at an OTA, as you know. Practice is great. That’s the thing as a football coach or a football player.”
“We are professional football players, so guys like to get out there and practice football, “Harbaugh went on. “Coaches like to get out there and coach football. That’s what we do. It’s exciting in that sense.”
With the OTAs heading into their second week, there is one slightly smaller objective to take care of: the Super Bowl ring ceremony.
The rings will be handed out to players and staff on June 7.
“I haven’t thought about it that much,” Harbaugh said, speaking of the ceremony. “I’m looking forward to it, I guess, but I can’t say it’s the most thrilling thing in the world. I’m excited about practice tomorrow, in all honesty. That’s the thing you think about.”
Whether John is excited or not, there’s no stopping the inevitable – he will be wearing a Super Bowl ring very soon.
