Maybe the Baltimore Ravens have done something that no other Super Bowl Champion has been able to do in recent years. Maybe the Ravens looked themselves in the eye and re-engineered their roster in a way that no other Super Bowl champion in recent years has had the guts to do.
Everyone from the outside believes this coming season will be a tall order for the Ravens due to losing nine critical starters from their championship team. Some will say that the Ravens have young players and with such youthfulness there’s a learning curve.
The negative noise is out there.
Are the Ravens listening?
Super Bowl champions in the past have lost their edge after feasting on the fruits of victory. Motivation doesn’t come easy. Teams get all fat and happy and rest on their laurels.
That said, if this offseason is any indication (and clearly it is) there is no rest to be had at the Under Armour Performance Center.
Many in the national media have predicted that the Ravens will miss the playoffs. And isn’t it interesting that the same people talking about all the talent the Ravens supposedly lost, didn’t give the Ravens a shot in hell of beating the Denver Broncos in the playoffs?
The Ravens hear the noise.
They read the papers.
Every team does.
If they said they didn’t they are lying.
But let’s remember who The Ravens are. Over the years they have been one of the more genuine teams in the NFL if not in all of sports. They play on emotion and this noise simply feeds the beast!
It’s hard to repeat. We all get that.
But it makes things easier on the road to repeating when you have new and hungry players.
And there are plenty of those in Owings Mills…
