Ravens Get No Respect

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Let’s admit it, here in Baltimore we have a bit of an inferiority complex. We’ll ignore the accolades bestowed upon our sports teams yet we’re all over critics like white on rice.

Slight the Ravens or the Orioles even a smidgen and within nanoseconds our inner Rodney Dangerfield emerges.

We get no respect.

And this year, before we could even enjoy a champion’s intoxicated glow, the NFL decided a Wednesday night game was fitting enough for their precious TV ratings and decided instead to force the defending Super Bowl Champions on the road for their opener.

Alleged expert analysts across the ever-expanding sports networks have chastised the Ravens for dismantling a Super Bowl winning defense. Were they watching even a little?

And now Vegas wants to pile on and perhaps capitalize on the lack of respect that is Baltimore-bound.

Currently the Ravens are listed as 9-point underdogs at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver on September 5. The defending champs are also listed at 30:1 to repeat.

Meanwhile the Saints (20:1), Falcons (18:1), Texans (18:1), Packers (15:1), Seahawks (8:1), Patriots (8:1), 49ers (6:1) and of course the Broncos (11:2) are all much more highly thought of than the Ravens.

Oh and the over/under for wins this season for John Harbaugh’s troops – 8½.

No respect!
