Ed Reed Missing Baltimore

Former Ravens safety Ed Reed, now with the Texans, still has fondness for Baltimore.

“There’s one thing I know, Baltimore is always going to be there,” Reed said Tuesday in quotes distributed by the Texans. “It’s not going to float off the map. I can always go back. “Do I miss it a little bit? Yeah, I miss certain things about it, but that’s part of life. When I went from (University of) Miami to Baltimore, there were some things I missed in Miami, but I knew change was there. I had to make the change and had to make the adjustments. I’m ecstatic to be here now.”

It was a tumultuous offseason for Reed, who left the Ravens in free agency after 11 seasons, then underwent hip surgery. Reed is still not sure he will be ready to play Week 1 for the Texans.

“I’ve got to get this scar tissue down and get this tightness and soreness that I feel consistently out of there,” Reed said. “I’m not at the point where I can run 100 percent. At some point it kind of grabs, so I got to get that scar tissue out. Once that kind of subsides, I can have a better timeline for you.”

One can imagine how badly Reed wants to be ready by Week 3, when the Texans visit the Ravens. That’s the same day Ray Lewis will be inducted into the Ravens’ Ring of Honor.

Replacing Reed is one of the challenges facing the Ravens.

Getting healthy is one of the challenges facing Reed.
