According to The Sun, the Baltimore Ravens have signed free agent running back Shaun Draughn most recently a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. (Career stats below courtesy of Pro Football Reference)
The move helps to address some of the roster configuration issues the Ravens are now experiencing given the injury to Jacoby Jones.
Earlier this week the team brought back Tandon Doss to add depth to the wide receiver position and to also provide some return capabilities. This move to acquire Draughn is more than likely an indication that Doss will only assume punt-return duties.
The move also is a clear indication (and probably an admission of guilt) that the Ravens fumbled when they chose not to keep Bobby Rainey on the 53-man roster.
As of this writing there the corresponding move to make room for Draughn has not been announced. The guess here is that Anthony Levine or Brynden Trawick are the most vulnerable players at the moment.
