The Ravens got some good news on Friday, as defensive lineman Haloti Ngata returned to practice. It was the first time in two weeks that Ngata practiced in Owings Mills. The Ravens list the big man as questionable for Sunday’s game; as he practiced on Friday, he’ll likely be a game time decision, but the thought here is that he plays.
They’ll need him, as Jets running back Chris Ivory does good work running between the tackles – something that is notably more difficult to accomplish when #92 is in the game.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Ravens look to get WR Marlon Brown, who did not play in Chicago, back on Sunday. Fellow wideout Brandon Stokley is again listed as probable, but he was listed as such last week and was still inactive. Stokley, in fact, hasn’t suited up since way back in Week 3 against Houston. With the Ravens’ passing attack sputtering, count me among those who would like to see the savvy veteran active this week over somebody like Deonte Thompson. The Jets will be blitzing, and Stokley seems like the perfect kind of guy to have ready to read and react to fill spaces voided by blitzing defenders.
I won’t hold my breath, though.
The Jets look quite healthy. Santonio Holmes and Kellen Winslow – both players who Ravens fans are very familiar with from their AFC North days with the Steelers and Browns, respectively – are listed as probable, as are seven other members of Gang Green, including starters Antonio Cromartie, Willie Colon, and Stephen Hill.
