Are NFL Fans Out of Control?

As you know Adrian Peterson got his panties in a bunch on Sunday over the behavior of Ravens fans who he alleges threw snowballs at the Vikings’ players.

In this day and age when pictures and video appear out of nowhere on the web, no visual evidence whatsoever has surfaced that corroborates Peterson’s claims. There is also no evidence that is publicly available (for the moment) that supports claims by some fans that the Vikings players returned frozen fire into the crowd.

Whatever happened or didn’t happen, crowd control is a challenge in the NFL. Games are preceded by hours of tailgating that include alcohol and those hours are often followed by a couple more that include adult libations furnished by stadium concession stands.

Mix in the passion fans have for the NFL and their highly competitive personalities PLUS a few visiting fans sporting opposing team colors and trouble often ensues.

Back in 2010 outside of Browns Stadium drunken Cleveland fans attacked an 8-year-old boy and his father who wore their Jets jerseys. This weekend a Lions fan visiting Philadelphia wearing his Barry Sanders jersey was allegedly attacked and knocked unconscious – and that’s after the Eagles WON the game.

And now there’s this ad from Beats by Dre headphones featuring Colin Kaepernick and what appears to be unruly Seattle Seahawks fans.

Why paint the fans from Seattle in such a way?

I’m sure most would object and for those fans who lean towards the unruly side, the ad may serve to feed their misguided passion and could be interpreted as a twisted endorsement of crude behavior.

The NFL needs to fix this and fast!

As ticket prices continue to climb along with the costs of gas, tolls and parking, COMBINED with the exorbitantly expensive concessions, more and more fans will opt to stay in the comfort of their homes if such mob-like behavior becomes more commonplace.

And this Beats by Dre ad certainly doesn’t help.
