Mike Flacco to Enter NFL Draft

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A few years ago, Baltimore had two Flacco brothers in their professional sports organizations – Joe was quarterbacking the Ravens, while little brother Mike was in the Orioles’ minor league system as a first baseman. After playing his college ball at CCBC Catonsville, Mike was drafted by the O’s in the 31st round of 2009.

Following four seasons in the O’s minors though, he was traded to the Boston Red Sox organization in March of 2013. Mike decided to switch sports instead of going to the Red Sox (atta boy!) and enrolled at the University of New Haven to play football.

This past season, Mike had 30 receptions for 591 yards and nine touchdowns as a tight end for the Chargers.

Now, Mike wants to join brother Joe in the NFL, as the 26-year-old will enter the draft this spring, per a report.

With Dennis Pitta as a pending free agent, could the Ravens pursue the Flacco-to-Flacco connection? Hey, if your best friend suddenly leaves your team, who better to replace him than your brother?

I’m completely kidding of course – I couldn’t deal with ANOTHER Flacco for Baltimore fans to incessantly argue about.

There is another Flacco brother playing football, John, who just finished his senior season at Stanford. John is a safety – but is his nickname “The Long Arm of the Law?

Might we see a future day where Joe Flacco throws complete to Mike Flacco, who is then tackled by John Flacco?

NFL – NATIONAL FLACCO LEAGUE!

Well, probably not. John “didn’t see action” as a freshman, sophomore, or junior, according to his Stanford bio, and I can’t find a single statistic for him this year – he’s probably not going to end up in the NFL.

Anyway, good luck to Mike Flacco in his attempts to break into the NFL.
