Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith sounded like he will be an entertaining interview this offseason. Here are some nuggets from Thursday’s media session:
Smith on what kind of ball quarterback Joe Flacco throws :
“He throws a lot of good, easy balls that you can snag (with) one hand,” Smith said. “It makes it look good, so I like those.”
On what still motivates him to play at a high level.
“I love competition,” Smith said. “And also, obviously (the media) always seems to have something to say, have a comment. So, I love to read those and like to serve a little humble pie to you.”
Where does he like to line up on the field?
“Between the white lines,” Smith said. “If you’re outside the white lines, you’re not lined up.”
On his intense personality, and how that will mesh with Flacco.
“It’s not like you’re out there sharing cookie recipes – it’s an aggressive game,” Smith said. “Outside of the field, I’m quiet, I’m minding my business, I’m low key, I’, laid back. I enjoy family time and I enjoy hanging out. I enjoy pranks and having fun. But on the field it’s business.”
However, when Smith talked about how much football he had left in the tank, he turned serious. At age 35, Smith wants to prove he can still be a big-time playmaker.
“The defensive (back) that’s going to be sitting in front of me – he’s going to find out how much I have left in the tank, and he’ll find out real quick.”
