QBs, Rookies & Injured Vets Get Started!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Quarterbacks, rookies and those veterans returning from injuries took to the field today as the Ravens kicked off their 2014 training camp under sunny skies at the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Wearing just shorts and pads along with helmets, the players went through their drills much like they did throughout OTAs and minicamp last month.

Two returning veterans to hit the practice field today were running back Bernard Pierce (shoulder) and offensive lineman Jah Reid (calf). Pierce, who was limited in offseason activities after having shoulder surgery turned in a solid day of practice. He appeared in shape, fast and showed good hands during receiving drills. Backup running back Lorenzo Taliaferro continued to progress as well, picking up where he left off earlier this summer.

Rookie wide receiver Michael Campanaro, along with undrafted receivers Jeremy Butler and Jace Davis, also turned in a nice day of practice. On several occasions all three made nice grabs during passing drills including a diving catch by Davis from quarterback Keith Wenning.

Rookie linebacker C.J. Mosley looks the part of a young player that is ready to make an immediate impact on the defensive side of the football in 2014. Building on several strong offseason practices, Mosley again looked comfortable in the middle of the defense during practice.

Rookie safety Terrence Brooks is still playing catch up at the position and it will be interesting to see whether he or free agent acquisition Darian Stewart will take reps with the first team defense once the full squad reports.

Veterans are set to report tomorrow afternoon and the Ravens will hold their first full-team practice on Thursday morning. Head coach John Harbaugh did state that the team will hold practice for two days before putting the pads on and beginning full contact drills on Saturday.

Veterans Steve Smith and Terrell Suggs are slated to speak to media members tomorrow afternoon.
