The Ravens opted for experience albeit minor over youth early Wednesday when the team announced the signing of cornerback Jamell Fleming to the practice squad.

Fleming, a 2012 third-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals is the latest addition to a Ravens squad that is apparently still searching for depth at the cornerback position.

After failing to make an impact with Arizona, given their polar opposite problems of the Ravens at cornerback, Arizona released Fleming who found a home in Jacksonville for the 2013 season.

In 2012, Fleming recorded 23 tackles 15 games last season for the Cardinals. He failed to register a single stat in 8 games with the Jaguars in 2013. The former Oklahoma Sooner, once projected to be a Brandon Flowers-type player, failed to make the final cut with the Jacksonville Jaguars over the weekend when rosters were trimmed down to 53 players.

Here’s a link to some Fleming video highlights from his collegiate days.

In order to make room for Fleming on the practice squad, the Ravens released Deji Olatoye.

Olatoye, 6-1, 194 pound undrafted cornerback  had an up and down training camp but showed signs of improvement throughout the preseason.

Running mostly with the third team defense for most of training camp and preseason, Olatoye who was considered a project player finished the preseason registering just two solo tackles.
