Familiar Flavor of Disappointment

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Overall: D

Too many mistakes on both sides of the ball was the Ravens’ downfall today.  NINE dropped passes, one fumble lost, one interception, and a ton of big plays given up by the defense is not a way to win any game.

Offense: C-

Honestly, the 2nd half was a lot of fun to watch.  Joe Flacco threw the ball 62 times, which is far too much.  I thought Gary Kubiak was a running game guru?  They didn’t run the ball nearly enough, which is a shame because Justin Forsett looked really good.  Receivers really blew it with (by my count) nine dropped passes including four by Steve Smith Sr.

Defense: C

Just like 2013, when the offense starts clicking and takes the lead, the defense finds a way to give up the big play.  How in the world can the coaching staff be ok with leaving Chykie Brown on an island with AJ Green?  That’s just a terrible idea.  Add that to poor tackling and very little pressure on Andy Dalton, and this is what you get.

Special Teams: C+

Jacoby Jones had one nice return, but overall he was pretty lackluster including a muffed punt near the goalline. Jeromy Miles and Anthony Levine had a big blocked punt/return play and Justin Tucker missed a very makeable 55-yard field goal, which was unlike him.

Gameplan/Coaches: D+

Letting Chykie Brown line up 1-on-1 with one of the best receivers in the league, deactivating Derek Cox knowing that Lardarius Webb was going to be out, and then an offensive game plan that was super pass-heavy when Justin Forsett averaged 6.4 yards per carry?!

This isn’t going to get it done, Harbs.
