Ravens Do What They Needed to

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The Ravens shook off a very sluggish start against a Titans team that played a very physical game and did what good teams do — beat bad teams. The Ravens avoided the big mistakes, remained committed to the run which helped set up opportunities down field. The secondary remains a primary concern but the new additions were clearly an upgrade over the departed Franks & Beans…er, Brown.

Nice of the NFL to schedule back-to-back bye weeks for the Ravens. 😉~Tony Lombardi

Not the prettiest game, but that did not concern me. All that mattered was getting the W, and not losing any more bodies. Nice game for Torrey, liked the slants as much as the TD. Obviously another good game for Forsett. Gorrer getting the late pick was nice. Bit of a coverage sack, but liked seeing Jernigan get his first. (Excited about him and Williams together for several years). Now you get an additional week to get rested, and prepare for New Orleans. Another week for the Secondary to gel. Hopefully Webb, and Hill reach another level. Eventually get back Asa Jackson. 6-4 at the bye, I still expect the Ravens to get to the Playoffs.~Chris Stoner

The Ravens started off very, very slow, but they rebounded and dominated in the second half. The offense controlled the ball, and the defense didn’t let Mettenberger and Tennessee get anything going at all in the second half. The Ravens will need to start faster in two weeks, but the second half was a good sign for both sides of the ball. ~Tyler Lombardi

A quality bounce back game for a Ravens team that desperately needed one. After being tested early, the secondary – particularly cornerbacks Lardarius Webb and Danny Gorrer – held their own and made it easy to forget about the embarrassing performance last Sunday in Pittsburgh. Justin Forsett continues his career year, Torrey Smith looked improved and Baltimore’s pass rush gave Zach Mettenberger fits all day. This was a win that keeps the Ravens in the thick of things in the AFC North.~Kyle Casey

The Defense came to play once again. A slow start for the offense turned out to not hurt them this week. Besides 1 TD catch, Torrey Smith continues to disappoint while Justin Forsett continues to impress. The 6-4 Ravens are still in last place in the AFC North and head into a bye before a extremely tough game in New Orleans in 2 weeks.~Joe Polek

Baltimore did what they had to do. They gutted out a win against a Titans team that fought as hard as they could from the first whistle until the last. Positives: Justin Forsett continues to perform at a very high level despite one of the offensive line’s more average games. Danny Gorrer, signed this past week, made a big-time interception in his return to Baltimore. Negatives: Jacoby Jones’ affinity for lateral dancing and poor ball security is very concerning. Also, though he didn’t have a very good game, Joe Flacco needs better pass protection than what he got today.

Thank goodness for the bye week (and the Jets).~Mike Fast

Ravens did exactly what they should have in beating a bad bad team at home to head into the 6-4. Time to rest up and get healthy for the long haul.~Brian Bower

It looked ugly early, didn’t it? 8 offensive plays (counting 2 punts) and 12 yards in the first quarter!  But the Ravens defense took control of the game in the second quarter and were never seriously challenged thereafter.  The Ravens offense took control in the second half over a surprisingly stubborn Titans defense to move the Purple & Black to 6-4, which puts them back into division playoff contention.  The Ravens also benefited from a major Steelers stumble against the Jets. ~Fran “The Fan” Vojik

Ugly offense early but just win baby.~Ken Zalis

After sleepwalking through the first quarter, the Ravens woke up and dominated a terrible team. The home team wasn’t particularly sharp, but a win is a win and it’s something to build on during the bye.~Derek Arnold

This was another listless performance from the offense, as they continued to struggle with cross and delayed blitz action. Flacco is slow to react and make the proper adjustments at the pre-snap phase to counter the rush. Still, the team did a nice job of staying committed to the run, and that commitment paid off in the second half as the Tennessee defense wore down. The defense owned the day today, as the replacement corners played well and the safeties stayed true to their deep coverage responsibilities. In particular, Anthony Levine made his presence felt as an under coverage defender playing the flats. He was aggressive, physical, and not afraid to throw his body around to make tackles in the open field.~Dev Panchwagh

A win is a win but the Ravens did little to alleviate concerns about their playoff chances. The secondary looks vulnerable and Joe Flacco looks lost and disinterested.  Let’s hope they figure some things out during their bye week.~Ryan Jones
