Thoughts and opinions on the Baltimore Ravens fluctuate weekly. One day you’re up, and the next day you’re down.
The NFL is like a merry-go-round!
Therefore it should come as no surprise that after a dominant 3 quarters, which led to a convincing 28-13 win over the Dolphins, the Ravens are held in high regard this week as evidenced by This Week on Russell Street…
THE OTHER SMITH
Last season Daryl Smith did a fine job of helping the Ravens transition from the Ray Lewis Era. It’s not easy replacing Mufasa!
That said, while Smith proved to be an asset to the pass defense, something that Lewis was not during the homestretch of his career, the former Jaguar struggled I run support and rarely made plays at or near the line of scrimmage. As this Tale of The Tape suggests, that is no longer the case.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THAT BASE DEFENSE
The Ravens defensive performance in Miami was one of the franchise’s greatest ever – at least in one aspect of the game. FILMSTUDY examines that performance and provides some eye-opening insight HERE.
FLACCO’S FAVORITE
A close examination of Joe Flacco’s performance in 2014 provides evidence that he is far more effective throwing to a certain area of the field – and it’s not even close! Plus there’s evidence that the Dolphins may have engaged in a little “gamesmanship” when they hosted the Ravens last Sunday.
SAY HELLO TO THE BAGUARS
Not that they’ll need it but here’s the blueprint to beat the Jaguars on Sunday, and yes the Ravens will have to do a little more than just show up.
THE DAY A FRANCHISE CAME ALIVE
The Ravens/Jaguars clash was once a twice/year event back during the days of the AFC Central. And for a long time Jacksonville held the upper hand in a big way but on this day in 2000, things would change forever.
THE PLAYOFF PICTURE
The playoff picture can be murky and convoluted but thanks to Ken McKusick, he simplifies things, so much so that even the guy with the Saturday Noon to 3PM shift on 105.7 The Fan could understand it. LINK
NEED TO GET AWAY?
The strength of schedule is a deceiving stat because each season some bad teams become good teams and some good teams hit the skids. That said here’s a peek at the Ravens opponents in 2015, a season during which they will be severely tested and rack up some frequent flyer miles.
THAT’S NO ORDINARY ROOKIE
CJ Mosley has been one of the Ravens most consistent defenders in 2014 and he’s making a strong case for Defensive Rookie of The Year. Here’s a closer look…

AND ON THE CALL
When you play the (2-11) Jacksonville Jaguars you aren’t going to get one of the better broadcasting crews – not by any stretch. This week those duties go to Tim McCarthy (no not the dude from Weekend at Bernie’s) and Adam Archuleta (Todd Heap’s former roomie). Well at least we’ll get the pleasure of Allie (may) LaForce-be-with-you who is handling the sideline reporting duties.
ZEBRA OF THE WEEK
This week’s game between the Ravens and Jaguars will be officiated by Tony Corrente’s crew, confirmed below by Press Box’ Joe Platania:
