Where Ravens will pick and who was drafted there last year
Clifton Brown of CSN Baltimore takes a look at the draft picks last year in the slots where the Ravens are set to pick this year. The 1st round pick isn’t promising, but there are some positives beyond the first two rounds, like Donte Moncrief with the 90th overall pick and John Urschel (yes, that John Urschel) in the 5th round. Of course, most of these picks weren’t in the hands of the great and powerful Oz last year. LINK
Part of the Plan: How Teams Make Free Agency and the NFL Draft Work Together
Robert Mays of Grantland puts together this piece detailing the “best player available” approach that Ozzie has touted every year. As teams start to realize that using free agency to fill holes is a good way to open up your options for draft picks, more franchises are beginning to follow the “best player available” approach. Crazy NFL Rumor of Yesterday: Browns owner Jim Haslam could trade his franchise to the Titans
Jason La Canfora originally reported this story, and he makes sure to point out that it is “a bizarre, remote possibility…ultimately, probably impossible.” Nonetheless, the fact that there are any rumblings of a deal like this happening is a very weird phenomenon. A Browns spokesperson responded by calling it “careless speculation.” Matt Bonesteel of the Washington Post has the full story. LINK
Report: Jets file tampering charges against the Patriots for Robert Kraft’s comments on Revis
I couldn’t be more confused by this. The Jets are apparently filing tampering charges against the Patriots for comments that Pats owner, Robert Kraft made AFTER Revis had already signed with the Jets. It’s a very odd situation, especially when you consider the comments that Jets owner Woody Johnson made back in December about Revis while the cornerback was still under contract with the Patriots. It sounds like this is some weird type of revenge for the Jets on the Patriots for the Pats filing tampering charges against the Jets.
Browns don’t want distraction of Hard Knocks
Part of the reason that the Browns turned down Hard Knocks for this upcoming season was quarterback, Johnny Manziel. Known for his off-the-field partying, Manziel has had a host of off-the-field issues and is constantly in the spotlight. I know that it’s an added distraction, but as long as Johnny Football is a Brown, there will always be an added distraction from the media. LINK
Ravens request back-to-back games in Bay Area
With the NFL schedule set to come out some time next month, the Ravens want their games in Oakland and San Fransisco to come in back to back weeks, as to avoid traveling back and forth across the country. We’ll see if the NFL grants the request. This would be pretty cool for Ravens fans looking to travel there. Fans could stay there for a whole week and go to both games if they wanted. LINK
