In case you are one of those fans who happen to think that the Ravens should part ways with back up quarterback Matt Schaub or keep Bryn Renner on the 53-man squad as the No. 2 QB, don’t hold your breath.
The Ravens don’t keep 3 quarterbacks and whether he plays, stinks or gets cut, Schaub is guaranteed $2M from the Ravens for 2015. He could earn another $1M in incentives.
I know, stop laughing.
The Ravens have little choice but to stick with Schaub. Perhaps if given the opportunity to play with the 1’s he’d fare better but we won’t get to see that happen unless disaster strikes – that is, Joe Flacco misses a start.
Perhaps Schaub can make a difference when the offense is off the field during a game. Maybe he’ll draw from his experience as a starter and detect a tendency of the opposing defense that he can share with Flacco and that tip results in a big play that makes a difference in an important game.
If so, the money would be well spent.
But until such time, and providing little changes on Thursday night when Schaub has a homecoming of sorts in Atlanta, this video below unfortunately, is the memory that resonates so far for the two-time Pro Bowler while wearing a Ravens uniform.
