The good folks over at Press Box asked me to answer a few forward looking questions regarding the Ravens upcoming season. Naturally I was a bit long-winded to their liking and they published a slightly abridged version of what I submitted.
So I figured since you all are a bit used to my unabridged opining, I’ll share the unedited version with you.
How many games will the Ravens win?
Like the challenge they faced during 2000 season the Ravens will be on the road for 5 of their first 7 games. During that 2000 championship campaign the Ravens started (5-2) but with 4 of the 7 road games out west in 2015, (5-2) seems like a very ambitious goal. Look for them to win in Oakland and San Francisco, hold serve at home and start 4-3 on their way to an 11-5 season.
Do you think the Ravens will make the postseason and how far will they go?
The Ravens will win the AFC North and host a playoff game however, if the preseason is any indication, depth once again will prove to be an issue for John Harbaugh’s squad. Consequently their Super Bowl ambitions will end once more during the AFC Championship Game.
Who will be the Ravens’ breakout star?
In Baltimore we recognize him as a burgeoning defensive star but this season, the rest of the country will see him the same way – Brandon Williams. My 1A for a breakout season goes to Crockett Gillmore who has shown Gronk-like, Bavarro-like flashes this summer.
Who will win this year’s Super Bowl?
The matchup will be a clash of historical foes and we’ll be reminded over and over of the legendary duels between Johnny Unitas and Bart Starr when the Andrew Luck-led Colts take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. The battle of “12’s” goes to the QB with the puny arms.
