As I’ve noted previously I’m a big John Harbaugh fan. That said the way he protects information, especially that related to injuries, is borderline ridiculous.
Take Breshad Perriman for example. Here’s a guy who was allegedly day-to-day back on August 1st with a bruised knee. Today it’s October 6 and there’s no return date in sight. The only thing we’re told is that Perriman has had one of the all-time slowest-healing sprained PCLs ever, and that’s nothing against him, mind you. It’s just the way it is.
That’s just the way it is.
Coy John Harbaugh, a man who believes that any information about his team can and will be used against him on the field of play. Now Perriman comes off looking like a candy ass.
But I digress…
The injury reports are interesting in and of themselves. They are update 3 times per week. What really is the advantage of providing that information? One might say that it helps other teams prepare for this week’s opponent. Do you really buy that?
No this is all about the Vegas line. A key injury could be costly to Vegas sports books so the information is provided in a timely and efficient manner by all teams and the league will dish out penalties to teams who don’t adhere to strict compliance.
Another act of a hypocrite…
The league talks out of both sides of his mouth. They’ll come down on Tony Romo and is little money making fantasy endeavor yet Fan Duel and Draft Kings are among the league’s biggest sponsors. And let’s face it, both are forms of gambling!
Oh and then as part of a coach’s curriculum injury reports for the benefit of Vegas, must be submitted 3 times per week.
If Roger Goodell was Pinocchio his nose would rival the Great Wall of China.
