Ravens Work Out QB Ryan Mallett

Share
Reading Time: 2 minutes

John Harbaugh has been aggressive on fourth down, and it is paying off. The Ravens bring in Ryan Mallett to work him out. It’s unclear what they would do with him. John Harbaugh now has the most wins of any coach in Ravens’ history. The special teams are enjoying a kick-blocking bonanza. The Ravens don’t move much in the power rankings. We should have knocked on wood more after Flacco made comments about his ironman status this offseason.

Ravens’ Aggressiveness On Fourth Down Paying Off

Ryan Mink of Ravens media discusses the Ravens’ tendency to go for it on 4th down. Mike Tirico on the Monday Night Football broadcast didn’t believe that Harbaugh would actually go through with it on his on 25, but the Ravens did, and they got it. If you’re like me – and Harbaugh – then you like when teams go for it on 4th and 1 in pretty much every situation because of the math behind it all. I loved the call, and NFL teams would benefit from doing so more often.

Ravens work out quarterback Ryan Mallett

Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun discusses QB Ryan Mallett, who has piqued the Ravens’ interest. Their level of interest isn’t clear. I would speculate that he is being brought in to back up Matt Schaub instead of Jimmy Clausen. He was a waiver claim, so the Ravens didn’t get a chance to work Clausen out.

The Mallett news was originally reported by Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

John Harbaugh passes Brian Billick on wins list

Lost in all of the craziness of Monday Night Football was that Harbaugh passed Brian Billick on the win list. Which means that John Harbaugh is now the winningest coach in Ravens’ history. It was already clear that he is the best in Ravens’ history. Now, he has the wins to back that up. Congratulations, John!

Ravens special teams enjoying kick-blocking binge

The Ravens have now blocked a field goal, punt, or extra point in five consecutive games. Clifton Brown of CSN Mid-Atlantic says they are the first team to do so since the 1983 Atlanta Falcons. In a year that hasn’t gone exactly as planned for either the defense or the offense, the special teams have stood out, and this is a result of their hard work.

Joe Flacco feels like he’s hitting the prime of his career

Jamison Hensley of ESPN posted this in the summer. It includes this quote from Joe Flacco, “I’ve never missed a game because of an injury.”

At the time, we posted this:

You can’t say things like that, Joe! #Ravens
