No Shame in Losing to Triple-A Affiliate

The win yesterday against Pittsburgh was a wonderful one. It capped off a season sweep of our most hated rival, which we can consider the only positive in an awful season full of injuries and other types of disappointment. It puts the Steelers’ playoff hopes in serious peril, and that was after their fans were forced to root for the Patriots…and were still disappointed.

But perhaps the best part of it all is that the Steelers lost to the 4th Ravens starting quarterback of the year, the third running back on the depth chart, and a bunch of receivers who were fringe members of the roster at the beginning of the year. They were essentially playing the Ravens’ Triple-A affiliate, according to Peter King of MMQB. He said, “It’s like they lost to the Norfolk Tides,” which is the Orioles’ Triple-A affiliate.

The Norfolk Tides’ official Twitter took exception to that, and they decided to respond to King.

They say that there is no shame, but if a Major League team lost to the Tides, they’d be pretty upset about it, especially if it was the Triple-A affiliate of their biggest rival, it completed a season sweep, and it put a huge damper in the Major League team’s playoff chances.

I can’t say this officially yet, but if you’re a Ravens fan, the end to the season is looking much better for us than it is for the Steelers. We just need either the Browns or Jets to come through next week to make it a certainty.
