The Ravens are reportedly interested in former Steeler, Dolphin, and Viking wideout, Mike Wallace. An unsung safety is also reportedly on the Ravens wish list.
UPDATES:
Ravens interested in Mike Wallace
Ravens clearing cap space… told they'd like to add a tight end. And looking seriously at Mike Wallace too. If the price is right.
— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) March 9, 2016
The Ravens were seriously lacking in the speed department last year. Mike Wallace could help to fix that. The problem is that he had a 1000 yard season since 2011. It will be interesting to see how much of his speed remains. He will turn 30 during training camp this year. As Aditi says, it will all depend on the price.
Ravens a “strong contender” for Rams safety Rodney McLeod
The Rams’ safety was a “must re-sign” according to Pro Football Focus. He graded as their 10th best safety in 2015. Their interest in McLeod is a bad sign for Kendrick Lewis, who struggled much of last season.
Eagles sign Rodney McLeod
The #Eagles agreement with safety Rodney McLeod, 5 years, $37M, includes $17M guaranteed. Huge move for Philly.

Ravens show interest in Kelvin Beachum
Another Steeler draftee the Ravens are taking a look at? LT Kelvin Beachum…
— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) March 9, 2016
Beachum made Pro Football Focus’ list of the top 10 free agent offensive linemen, ranking third, just behind Kelechi Osemele. Last season, he tore his ACL early in the year. In 2014, however, he ranked as the fifth best tackle in the league.
Taking notes on the Ravens’ rumor mill. CB Arrington will take a pay cut. Free agent WR Benjamin is off the market. LB Upshaw is gaining interest outside of Baltimore. Could RB Powell become a Raven? M. Jones is expected to go to Detroit. Yanda restructures his contract.
Kyle Arrington to take pay cut
Cornerback Kyle Arrington has agreed to take pay cut to stay with the Ravens, per source.
— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) March 9, 2016
It would have been a popular move around town (and here at RSR) if the Ravens decided to cut Arrington. It will be interesting to see how much of a pay cut it becomes. His performance last season warrants very little, perhaps even vet minimum.
Browns’ WR Travis Benjamin to sign with Chargers, per reportÂ
I’m told WR Travis Benjamin plans to sign with the #Chargers when the market officially opens tomorrow. San Diego gets a dangerous weapon.
— Rand Getlin (@RandGetlin) March 9, 2016
Travis Benjamin would have been a good signing for the Ravens. The problem was that he was reportedly looking in the $6-7M/year range. That would have been tough to create with the Ravens’ current Cap situation. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com has the full story.
Colts a likely landing spot for Courtney Upshaw
Continue to hear that Colts are likely landing spot for Courtney Upshaw as well. but nothing definitive on that one.
— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) March 8, 2016
The deal has not been finalized, nor is one certainly imminent. But it looks like the interest is there outside of Baltimore. Colts head coach Chuck Pagano got the job in Indy right before the Ravens drafted Upshaw.
Ravens among teams interested in Bilal Powell
Bilal Powell comes into focus for @NYJets. But Cowboys, Patriots & Ravens are interested too https://t.co/SP65Ec4AIc pic.twitter.com/UuNRVblbFa
— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaSports) March 9, 2016
It appears the Ravens aren’t satisfied with their current crop of running backs. They are interested in former Jets running back Bilal Powell, but there is competition. Powell was much more efficient than Chris Ivory when given the opportunity in the Jets backfield last year.
Marvin Jones signing in Detroit
Marvin Jones signing in Detroit per sources
— Dianna Russini (@diannaESPN) March 9, 2016
Another free agent wide receiver will be inking a deal. Marvin Jones, formerly of the Cincinnati Bengals, is expected to sign in Detroit. Yesterday, Calvin Johnson retired, so it isn’t a surprise that the Lions would go after a free agent receiver.
The market is starting to become thinner at receiver. My favorite option remaining has to be Rishard Matthews.
Ravens convert part of Marshal Yanda‘s base salary into signing bonus
Ravens G Marshal Yanda converted $5.3M of his $6.19M base salary of 2016 into a signing bonus, creating $3.975M of cap space, per source.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) March 9, 2016
The Ravens just extended Yanda this past season, so they feel like they need to do everything they can to be competitive in 2016. The bonus will be prorated (spread out evenly) over the next four years.
