The Ravens were back out on the field for an 8:45 a.m. practice under sunny skies at the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills.

Players donned pads for the second consecutive practice on the fourth day of camp as they performed positional drills.

Missing in Action

OLB Elvis Dumervil, OLB Terrell Suggs, RB Lorenzo Taliaferro, WR Steve Smith Sr. WR Breshad Perriman and RB Trent Richardson all remain on the physically unable to perform list.

TE Crockett Gillmore, DT Timmy Jernigan (undisclosed), WR Chris Moore (tweak), CB Maurice Canady (unknown), RG Marshal Yanda (day off), WR Michael Campanaro (day off) and RB Kenneth Dixon (leg).

Studs of the Day

After a rough start in camp initially, wide receiver Mike Wallace made an impact for the offense on Sunday running smooth routes, flashing speed and hauling in several passes from Joe Flacco. Wallace shined in both  seven-on-seven drills and 11-on-11 team drills, making two stellar catches for touchdowns despite decent coverage from Lardarius Webb and Eric Weddle.

OLB Za’Darius Smith continues his trend of stacking days. The second-year player out of Kentucky has bulked up and worked on his speed this offseason and his progress continued against the first team offense. Smith was relentless in the Ravens backfield and forced Flacco from the pocket on multiple reps. He also fared well with his run defense cutting off running lanes forcing Justin Forsett outside.

Kamar Aiken has quietly become a leader for Marc Trestman’s offense. After recording career highs in receptions last season (75), Aiken hasn’t missed a beat through camp thus far. His rapport with Flacco is evident, and he battles for every pass thrown his way. During red zone drills, the fourth-year veteran hauled in a perfectly thrown pass from Flacco for a touchdown. On the play, Aiken adjusted to an under-thrown ball to make a catch for another touchdown later in practice.

Duds of the Day

Ryan Mallett again struggled throughout Sunday’s padded practice. During positional drills, Mallett was off kilter and lacked any consistency on his passes. The backup quarterback didn’t fare any better during team drills either. His passes were wobbly, under-thrown, and his mechanics were horrible. With third-string quarterback Jerrod Johnson playing well, Mallett needs to pick up the pace.

Rookie Alex Lewis had another down day. The Ravens second-team pass rush proved to be too much for the young offensive lineman. Plugged in at left tackle on the second-team offense, Lewis was pushed around for much of the afternoon and gave up three-straight pressures. With Jake Long no longer in the picture for the Ravens, the team is seeing what they have at left tackle.

Play of the Day

During red zone drills, quarterback Joe Flacco threw his best pass of camp thus far, finding Kamar Aiken in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown. Flacco’s placed the ball where only Aiken, who was covered by Jimmy Smith, could grab it.

Other Observations

Justin Tucker had himself quite a practice, connecting on field goal attempt after field goal attempt. Tucker connected on kicks from 40, 48, 50 and 54 yards and drilled a 69-yarder to end practice.

Safety Eric Weddle continues to prove he is the right man for the secondary. Weddle showed his range during team drills tracking a Flacco pass to Kamar Aiken and knocking down the pass at the last moment along the sideline.

Linebacker Patrick Onwuasor was again involved in a hard hitting contact play on a Ravens ball carrier. The undrafted rookie hit Kyle Juszczyk helmet to helmet during a red zone run knocking Juice to the ground hard. The fullback got up swinging and the two were quickly separated.

Linebacker Chris Carter delivered a crushing hit to defensive lineman Trevon Coley during special teams drills. Carter had several nice plays and drew the cheers of special teams coach Jerry Rosburg.

Quote of the Day

“Get your ass down there now!” Jerry Rosburg to linebacker Brennen Beyer after Beyer failed to run during a kick off drill.

On Deck

The Ravens will travel to M&T Bank Stadium for a 7 p.m. practice on Monday. The practice is open to the public and the team is slated to be in pads for the third-straight day.
