Sometimes we tend forget that football is more than just a game to the players. It creates a special bond that anyone whose ever been a part of a team knows well.
2016 has been a trying time for the Ravens – as much off the field as it has been on. Already this year the organization has dealt with the passing of second-year corner back Tray Walker following a dirt bike crash in March, and then with defensive line coach Clarence Brooks succumbing to his battle with esophageal cancer.
The Ravens were dealt another blow following the loss to the Patriots last night as they learned that former tight end Konrad Reuland passed away after suffering a brain aneurysm in November.
“We lost a member, we lost a Raven today. Konrad Reuland,” said a somber Harbaugh at the podium. “He was declared brain dead, he had an aneurysm about a week ago, underwent surgery and has been fighting for his life for the last week.
“He passed today, so I just want to offer condolences to his family. We love Konrad Reuland. Every single guy in that locker room loves him, that knows him.
“And I just want to say this, on his behalf, it is a Psalm: God is our refuge and our strength. In Him do we trust.
“That’s for Konrad.”
Rueland appeared in four games for the Ravens last season including one start. Reuland also was a member of the New York Jets from 2012-2013.
Thoughts and prayers to Konrad’s entire family and friends.
His former teammates took to social media to also express their condolences.
