It’s a Crucial Time For The Ravens

The War of Attrition

I sat down with RSR capologist Brian McFarland to discuss the challenges the Ravens face this offseason (and there are many) and what we could expect from the team’s front office. This could very well be a war of attrition for the Ravens.

• How do the Ravens compare cap wise to other AFCN teams? To the 2016 playoff teams?
• Complementary veteran WR… Pierre Garcon‘s name keeps popping up. What might he cost?
Mike Wallace…How could they extend him for a year with a new contract that would represent a win-win and free up some cap space?
Jeremy Zuttah…stay or go?
Ben Watson or Dennis Pitta or neither?
• Discuss likelihood of new contracts for: Rick Wagner, Brandon Williams and Kyle Juszczyk.

Great Move by the Ravens

He may prove to be the best offseason acquisition that the Ravens will make this offseason. He could make Joe Flacco better, Marty Mornhinweg less of a scapegoat and a 2016 fourth round pick a star. Who is he? Dev Panchwagh provides the details HERE.

A New Cook in The House?

It’s no secret that the Ravens have a plethora of needs. (It’s been awhile since I’ve used that word so indulge me, although admittedly it sounds like a disease of the intestines). Among those needs, running back is not the most pressing yet many mockers peg Dalvin Young to the Ravens. Adam Bonaccorsi provides his take.

The Ravens Catch-22

Which is really about who will catch the football from Joe Flacco. It’s seems to be an annual rite of passage that the Ravens enter each new year in search of a wide receiver. Ozzie Newsome expressed his desire to add a “complementary receiver” at the State of the Ravens presser. What exactly does that mean. Carey Stevenson delves into the topic and considers available free agents and draft eligible players who could dress in purple and black in 2017.

Discount Double Check

Many have floated the concept of Brandon Williams and Rick Wagner accepting a hometown discount to stay with the Ravens. What a load of ____! Why would they and even if they would what is being discounted? Here’s why the concept is flawed plus a few conflicting agendas living at One Winning Drive that could create a clash in 2017 for the Ravens.

A Mockery of The Draft

Everyone else does one, right? So, we jump in too as Kyle Casey and Paul Lukoskie predict the name the Ravens will call with the 16th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. (Hint: They hook a good one).

Cap Jail

At this time of year, it seems that the Ravens are regularly dealing with cap issues. Why is that? Is there relief in sight? What can they do to free up some cap space? This and more is answered in our weekly offseason piece, a Q&A with RSR’s capologist Brian McFarland.

Not Their First Choice(s)?

This week the Ravens announced some promotions in the coaching ranks. But were those promotions Plan B – a plan executed because other coaches from around the league didn’t want to come to Baltimore? And if so why? We explore the topic in Word on The Street.
