Stevie Biscuits Flying Solo!
It looks like we’ll be getting a State of the Ravens address after all… or rather, State of the RAVENS.
Per the Ravens official account on the Twitter:
Owner Steve Bisciotti will address the media Friday, February 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Ravens Under Armour Performance Center.
— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) January 26, 2018
Following up on the statement by the Ravens, the legend himself, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun:
It appears to be an abbreviated version of past “State of Ravens” addresses. No mention of team president Dick Cass, GM Ozzie Newsome or HC John Harbaugh being available. They’ve all been part of “State of Ravens” in past.

So this is good news? I guess?
In all fairness, it only makes sense to get Bisciotti, and not the others, at this juncture in time; John Harbaugh already had an end of season press conference, discussing what’s behind them, and the decision to keep Marty Mornhinweg. Here’s a short clip from that Harbaugh presser.
We’ve also had new Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale meet with the media, so all of the coaching positions have said their piece.
As for the rest of the Ravens Fantastic Four: Dick Cass’ absence should be a welcome sign for Ravens fans, as it (hopefully) means no reason to discuss ticket price increases! On the flip side, don’t expect a drop in prices either (has any franchise ever dropped ticket prices?). Ozzie Newsome will be available to the media at the combine (end of February) so we’ll get some answers/non-answers out of him at that juncture, so no worries there, and the reality of the usual State of the Ravens address is that Stevie Biscuits is answering like 90% of the questions anyway.
We simply need Steve.
While there’s no word on the format of this discussion, or the topics for that matter, it’s not difficult to assume what will be discussed next week. If the floor is open to questions, I assume Bisciotti will be asked the same questions that he hears every single year, simply because… well, nothing ever changes.
A few likely suspects:
Care to elaborate on the empty seats?
Thoughts on Joe Flacco in regards to his lack of progress, and his future with the organization?
Will the team look to drafting a quarterback of the future?
Do you believe protests had a major effect on attendance?
How does the franchise plan to draw fans back to the game?
Last off-season, there was an emphasis places on adding ‘play makers’ which the Ravens failed to do- what’s the plan this off-season?
Is John Harbaugh officially on the hot seat?
What is the threshold of tolerance in regards to performance this season, before mass changes are made?
Honestly, I should make a BINGO card in advance of next Friday’s presser…
I, for one, can only hope for honesty & accountability– a much needed change of pace that would help Bisciotti get some of the fence-fans back on his side. After all, what else does the franchise really have going in it’s favor right now?
Continuity?
What do you think? Should Steve bother having the presser by himself? What do you want him to say/reporters to ask?
