Today my family will be celebrating the life of my Dad, Anthony Lombardi, Sr. Dad passed on May 14. He battled many illnesses and I often wondered why he was forced to endure so much during his golden years. And as he taught me, I find myself seeking the silver lining in his death in order to give it more meaning. Family and friends will gather later this morning to do exactly that.
We’ll also be doing the same when we think of Officer Amy Caprio.
For me, her tragic passing hits close to home.
It happened in my neighborhood. It happened to a family with deep ties to my alma mater, Archbishop Curley High School.
Hopefully Officer Caprio’s death isn’t in vain. Hopefully, like Dad always taught, we can find a way to give her life even more meaning by implementing the necessary changes to make our communities safer.
To the family and friends of Officer Caprio, my heartfelt condolences. There are no words to ease your pain. I pray that your memories and love sustain you and the time is kind to all of you.
In order to honor Officer Caprio and all of her colleagues who put their lives in harm’s way in order to protect us, we’ve altered our home page button. Please let it serve as a reminder that we are all in this together and that together, behind the shield of protection provided by law enforcement, we can be better.
We owe it to Officer Amy Caprio.
