Sits, Streams, & Sleeps – Week 8
Not too shabby last week, and we’ll look to build on that this week!
Looking at the Ravens this week, I’ll be blatantly honest with you… if you start a Raven this week, you’re a bigger clown that Osi Umenyiora. Actually, I take that back. There are a few plays this week where starting a Raven (guaranteed zero in the points column) is the better option. Here’s the positional breakdown of which players are a worse option than a Raven (zero):
QB: Sam ‘Casper’ Darnold vs JAC
WR: Julio Jones with Matt Schaub under center
RB: Nicky Chubb vs Pats insane D
TE: Mike Gesicki (he didn’t do anything wrong, I just like pointing out that he’s a bust)
K: Robbie Gould & his 7 missed FGsÂ
D/ST: Browns already putrid D versus the Pats O
As for the rest of the league, let’s roll through our biggest stream/sit/sleep for Week 8. Yes, I said ‘stream’ sit or sleep. I’m not fussing with starters because we all know who you should be starting on any given week, and quite frankly, your fantasy sites will rank those players for you atop their lists. You don’t need me echoing what you already know!Â
No, you need me to help you in a pinch when you’re starter is on a bye and you need a replacement to stream this week with a high probability of hitting, which guys you’d typically start but should bench out of fear of a bad performance, and which players are deep sleepers if you feel like you’re ready for a shot in the dark that could pay big dividends like a well placed bet at baccarat online!
Help me, help you.
Quarterback
Stream: Teddy Bridgewater, Saints
Teddy may not be available in all leagues (especially not 2 QB leagues) but in the event you’ve got yourself an 8-man league or a 10 where people don’t hoard QBs, you’ll likely find Teddy on the pine waiting to be called up. He’s got a matchup with the 29th-ranked Cards pass D a week after handling a stout Bears D. The past 3 weeks Teddy has thrown for 835 yards, 7 TDs and 1 INT. Stream him while you can til Brees returns.
Sit: Jacoby Brissett, Colts
Brissett lit up the Texans last week, throwing for 326 yards and a quartet of touchdown passes, but I wouldn’t expect to see a similar performance this week against the 3rd-ranked Broncos defense. Yes, the Chiefs just put up 30 on Denver last week, but look closer – 13 came with Mahomes under Center, the defense scored 7, and Matt Moore put up 10 points in the final 8 drives. Brissett isn’t Mahomes. I expect the Broncos D to rebound, and Brissett to be on the wrong end of that equation.
Sleep: Ryan Tannehill, Titans
If you’re scoffing, may I remind you that a sleeper is meant to be a player you don’t expect to excel. Tannehill isn’t the sexy QB play this week, but the new Titans QB is coming off a 312 yd, 2 TD, 1 INT performance against the Chargers, and this week faces the 26th ranked Buccos pass D. I expect him to stack good games here.
Running Back
Stream: James White, Patriots
We’ve all streamed James White, then regretted it, haven’t we? Surely, Sony Michel will again see the bulk of the touches, but White always finds his way into the game plan, and against the Browns I’m still expecting 7-10 targets for him, especially as Mohamed Sanu is acclimating to the offense on short notice, and with Josh Gordon gone.Â
Sit: Chase Edmonds, Cards
Edmonds is coming off a monster Week 7 that had every David Johnson owner slamming their fists on the table, but to expect the same results this week against the 4th ranked rush D of the Saints would be foolish, to say the least.Â
Sleep: Darrell Henderson, Rams
The Rams take on the 32nd ranked defense of the Bengals, and I for one expect a blowout. With that said, Todd Gurley could be resting early in this one with Henderson taking the majority of the second half snaps. He’s saw 11 carries to Gurley’s 18 last week in the Falcons win. This is a better matchup for Henderson that could see him break a big one.
Wide Receiver
Stream: DK Metcalf, Seahawks
Seattle is surely pissed after losing to the Ravens, and now they head to Atlanta to take on the 1-6 Falcons. Atlanta’s 29th ranked pass defense going up against Russell Wilson with eyes on getting back in the win column in a big way will surely benefit their wideouts, and Metcalf could be the biggest benefactor. Coming off a 4/9/53 game, Metcalf looks to return to his production the previous two games where he had 67% and 80% reception rate, respectively. Straight line speed, pissed Russ, and scoring touchdowns.Â
Sit: D.J. Moore, Panthers
I like Moore. I don’t like his production this year, having just 1 receiving touchdown and having not broken 100 yards receiving in a game yet. The QB shift hasn’t truly helped or hurt him, but playing the 49ers stout defense will stifle Moore this week. Flex him if you dare.Â
Sleep: Allen Lazard, Packers
Lazard didn’t show up sexy on the stat sheet last week versus the Raiders, but he saw more snaps than any wide receiver for Green Bay. With Davante Adams likely still out, the Chiefs will be keying in on Marquez Valdes-Scantling this week, giving me the feeling Rodgers will have eyes for Lazard in a big week.Â
Tight End
Stream: Jimmy Graham, Packers
Graham is still available in the majority of formats, despite having a 4/4/100/1 week last week. The Chiefs pass D is 9th ranked but they’ve given up the 4th most receptions to Tight Ends. Look for more of that Sunday.
Sit: Greg Olsen, Panthers
Olsen has been boom or bust this season, but coming off a bye week shouldn’t give you any more warm and fuzzies. The 3rd-ranked 49ers defense will stifle any hopes.
Sleep: Josh Oliver, Jags
Oliver has done nothing this year, but he’s coming off an injury that’s held him out through last week. Going against a 23rd-ranked Jets pass D this week should lead to some hopefully high production for a deep sleeper.
Kicker
Stream: Its A Crapshoot
Sit: Anybody who is on a bye week
Sleep: Better option than watching kickers
If you really need fantasy advice on kickers, we need to talk. Yes, some are more accurate than others, and yes, some kickers may get more opportunity based on offenses that constantly get into the red zone but struggle to score. But it’s really a total shot in the dark. Robbie Gould come into the season as one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history and has missed 7 of 19 FGA this season.Â
Defense
Stream: Colts
Like I said – I hate all things Broncos offense. The Colts should treat them like they’re Miami or Cincy.
Sit: Chiefs
Surprisingly, the Chiefs have the 9th-ranked D in terms of fantasy points, but taking on the Packers will drop them out of the top 10.
Sleep: Jaguars
The Jags have the 23rd-ranked fantasy defense… and that was with Jalen Ramsey for 6 weeks. This may not be reassuring, but taking on Sam Darnold and his ghosts this week? That should help their cause to take on a deep sleep role.
