Andrews’ Target Share Can Make You a League Winner

Mark Andrews TD vs Browns

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The Ravens’ loss to the Steelers on Sunday left fans disappointed and discouraged. Fans and coaches alike are now concerned after yet another season ending injury, with Marlon Humphrey now sidelined for the remainder of the campaign. How many more injuries will the Ravens be able to handle before the team’s performance and confidence implodes? Just remember, we ride or die with the flock. Don’t lose faith. The Ravens have been in bad positions before and succeeded.

So last week in fantasy… although we hit our game picks as well as almost all of the fire & ice picks (especially the Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs busts), I completely whiffed on the streamers. I truly hope it didn’t knock you out of the playoff race, like it did for me. I always follow my own advice and it bit me in the ass last week. I had to stream a QB, so I fired up Taylor Heinicke. Now my playoff push is over in one of my leagues. But… in all my other leagues and probably yours too, the playoff push is ON! Were coming back strong this week. Let’s lock down our playoff position. Its go time.

Ravens-Browns Fantasy Outlook

Start ‘Em

Mark Andrews

If there is anything consistent in life, it is Mark Andrews’ target share. Since the bye week, Andrews has been targeted 47 times, in five games. If my pretty rusty math is right, that’s about nine targets per game. It is tough to be a bust when your getting peppered targets like that. Season-long, Andrews holds a 23% market share and a 27% red zone market share. We are going with Lamar Jackson’s favorite weapon this week. (By the way, I loved the call to go for two!)

Donovan Peoples-Jones

Picking Jarvis Landry would be boring and gross, so were going with DPJ this week! I could see him out-performing Landry. Landry will primarily be matched up with whomever is the chosen CB1 in our CB room which ought to just be a rehab facility at this point. DPJ will face coverage primarily from the CB2, who at this point is actually the CB 4 or 5. I expect DPJ to gain more separation and get open more often that Landry while he is covered by CB1. Baker Mayfield should be looking for DPJ early and often, as he takes advantage of his matchup.

Streamin’ Around the League

Quarterback

Cam Newton

When I picked him in Week 11, he hit 26 fantasy points and were going with him again. Cam played like _____ last game! You can fill in the blank with your favorite expletive. Cam was complete trash Week 12 (the Panthers had a Week 13 bye) and he ended up getting benched. Cam needs a comeback game to protect his starting position and ego. Its coming this week against an equally trash defense, the Falcons. They rank 28th in passing defense and allow the 2nd most fantasy points to QBs. The Panthers are only three-point home favorites and I expect this game to come down to the wire. Cam has the game script and matchup to go super Cam this week.

Running Back

Dontrell Hilliard

Hilliard has had back-to-back, double-digit performances while covering for an injured Derrick Henry and will be slicing and dicing the Jags this week. The Titans are projected 26 points while being 8.5-point favorites. A positive game script plus a high point total is enough to make you feel comfortable streaming the player. Add a fantastic matchup and its fantasy gold. The Jags rank 31st in rush defense and give up the 26th most points to fantasy RB’s. From the start, the Titans will attack that weakness. Once the Titans get ahead, it’s gonna be run, run, run! I want a piece of that!

Wide Receiver

Rondale Moore

This matchup between the Cardinals and Rams may be the best (non-Ravens) game of the week. The Cardinals are 3-point home favorites against the Rams in a game that has an over/under of 51 points! Deandre Hopkins and Jalen Ramsey will be on each other all game. That’s always fun to watch! Anyway, Hopkins likely wont see more than a few targets this week. Hopkins is going to struggle gaining separation. The coaches know it and Kyler knows it. Kyler Murray will be looking to connect with Green, Kirk and Moore often this game and of the 3, I like Moore. Rondale Moore is an electrifying rookie who can take any play to the house. He can be utilized as a check-down as well as down the field. With his speed and agility, Moore has week-winning upside against the Rams, as he makes the most of his increased opportunities.

Tight End

Austin Hooper

Of the very few streaming options at TE this week, I like Austin Hooper. We all know that the Ravens struggled badly against TEs this season. Now with Humphrey out, I’m nervous to say the least. Hooper doesn’t need much more explaining. The Ravens cant stop TEs. Also, Hooper is basically the only option.

Fire & Ice

Fire Squad

Dak Prescott

Javonte Williams

CeeDee Lamb

Travis Kelce

Ice Squad

Joe Burrow

Jamaal Williams

Brandin Cooks

T.J. Hockenson
