Man, oh man! The Baltimore Ravens are somehow (2-1) but we couldn’t be happier despite a shaky and banged up defense. If for no other reason, the Ravens have found themselves with a (2-1) record thanks to one man in particular… Lamar Jackson who is on track to repeat as league MVP.
Jackson has truly transcended his game in 2022 to heights we perhaps did not see coming. Even after his stellar and historic 2019 season, the 2022 season already has Jackson on his way to an even better 2022 season. To call it insane wouldn’t do it justice.
Stay tuned for a very Lamar Jackson heavy centric edition of this Wednesday’s Out to Lunch segment, because it truly was the Lamar Jackson show once again this week in the Baltimore Ravens win over the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Massachusetts this past week; just as it has been all year.
Let’s go ahead and step Out to Lunch and check out what everyone is saying about the 2019 MVP.
Jackson himself, recognizes how great his play has been so far, but with his usual humility, he checks his ego at the door and simply states, “I feel better than 2019, I’ll say that. I’m very eager.”

When the 2019 season had kicked off at this time in 2019, Jackson had already firmly planted himself as an MVP candidate. Through three games in 2022, he looks to be the slam dunk favorite.
I mean, just look at this!

Literally the only teams with more touchdowns than Lamar Jackson are the Detroit Lions with their suddenly explosive offense and the… oh, that’s it? Gotcha!
lamar jackson, himself, has more touchdowns than every NFL team except one:
t-1. lamar jackson (12 touchdowns)
t-1. detroit lions (12)
3. buffalo bills (11)
4. kansas city chiefs (11)
5. cleveland browns (10)— Tej Seth (@tejfbanalytics) September 28, 2022
It’s not just touchdowns, either folks. Jackson is accumulating the yards to back himself up, too:
2022 NFL Leaders — Combined Offense
1.Josh Allen (#Bills) — 1,127
2. Jalen Hurts (#Eagles) — 1,083
3. Lamar Jackson (#Ravens) — 992
4. Tua Tagovailoa (#Dolphins) — 926
5. Justin Herbert (#Chargers) — 919#BillsMafia #FlyEaglesFly #RavensFlock #FinsUp #BoltUp pic.twitter.com/HG0hpkDsEg— Jeff Kerr (@JeffKerrCBS) September 28, 2022
The only two players ahead of Jackson are both MVP candidates in the forms of Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts. But regardless of that, Jackson is still within 200-yards of Allen and less than 100-yards from Hurts with more touchdowns. The Bills are also 2-1, while the Eagles are 3-0.
Yeah, Jackson is truly playing at a superstar level this year.
What’s possibly the best way to describe Jackson’s game? This is certainly one take:
Is it the right throw to make? Maybe.
Is it ill-advised? Probably.
Is it unorthox? Yes.
Is it wildly entertaining? 100%.Lamar Jackson plays the game like we did in the cul-de-sac, except at the NFL level. pic.twitter.com/7ei7tczirL

The best part? I don’t hate this comparison at all! Back when we were kids playing football in the cul-de-sac, everyone wanted to be quarterback, and everyone wanted to make the SportsCenter top-10 plays with throws like this. Jackson truly is playing in the NFL like it’s a video game and somehow it’s working.
For our fantasy football fans, these numbers are jaw dropping to say the least…
QB scoring leaders in fantasy football:
1. Lamar Jackson
2. Josh Allen
3. Jalen Hurts
4. Patrick Mahomes
5. Lamar Jackson without his rushing— Dave Kluge (@DaveKluge) September 28, 2022
That is absolutely insane to comprehend that taking away Jackson’s two rushing touchdowns would still place him in the top-5 for total points scored this year. I can tell you that in my own league with bonuses and 6-point touchdown passes, that Jackson has topped over 110 points in the last two games for me alone. He’s been on another planet this year.
For his efforts this past weekend against a very good Los Angeles Chargers defense, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award, and it has Ravens fans in a flux.

Lawrence definitely had the more productive game, as well as a higher passer rating and no interceptions compared to Jackson throwing one. By all means, Lawrence certainly had the more efficient week, but was he more deserving than Jackson? You guys be the judge of that!
If you’re in search of more people’s opinions on Lamar Jackson’s 2022 season, then treat yourself to this edition of the Locked On Ravens podcast hosted by Kevin Oestreicher and guest Reeta Goodell.
And finally as we finish up here, lets continue to appreciate all the memes coming out for Lamar Jackson propaganda to get the fifth-year quarterback his rightfully deserved bag:
The Baltimore Ravens (probably): “We can’t pay Lamar Jackson a record-high contract until we get another year to evaluate him.”

The Baltimore Ravens will certainly be tested this weekend against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. It could very well be up to Jackson to carry the Ravens to another huge victory. It’ll be a battle of MVP candidates and is somehow not a prime-time game. Shame on you, NFL.
Happy Wednesday as always, Ravens Flock!
I’ll see you guys’ next week hopefully with another huge win under our belt. Cheers!
