After another stressful win now in the books, the Ravens are 2-1 and will be looking to make it 3-1 this week against the Buffalo Bills. Going into what will likely end up being one of the craziest games of the season for the Ravens, there are a lot of good vibes in Charm City. First off, the loss to the Dolphins doesn’t sting as much, after they upset the Bills 21-19 last week! The Ravens offense has looked explosive so far and we are starting to see glimpses of what this Ravens defense can & should be. A fan on twitter said it best: The Ravens defense is the team equivalent of Trevon Diggs. Last week’s game is a great example. Although the Ravens defense had three interceptions and two forced fumbles, they still let up nearly 450 total yards.
Looking back on fantasy last week, I don’t think there is a single person out there who thought that DeVante Parker, the dude who had one catch for nine yards through the first two weeks, would be the one to burn the defense for 156 yards on five catches (23.6 fantasy points). Unsurprisingly, Mark Andrews dominated the competition again and scored 25 fantasy points after catching eight passes for 89 yards and 2 TD. Lamar did Lamar type things again. Like back-to-back games with 100+ rushing yards. Or scoring 10 passing TD and two rushing TD through just three games. Just ridiculous stuff like that.
Ravens – Bills Fantasy Outlook
Start ‘Em
Ravens that are not RB’s
You really cant go wrong with starting a Ravens player this week, unless they are a RB. The Bills are a stingy defense to begin with, ranking 3rd overall. But the Ravens have been doing most of their damage through the air this season and they aren’t going to go run heavy in what could be one of the highest scoring games this season. I’m not saying to go start Tylan Wallace lol, but I definitely think Devin Duvernay is a very safe play and has WR2 upside this week. And we are obviously starting dudes like Lamar, Andrews, and Rashod Bateman.
Gabe Davis
I feel similar with the Bills offense this game, where we can confidently play most of the usual Bills options. But for this week, I especially love Gabe Davis. After missing Week 2 and having a poor Week 3, Davis has just been confirmed to be active this week and I expect him to have one of his biggest games of the season (if he’s healthy). The Ravens have given up the most fantasy points this season to receivers. Even if you remove the Miami game, the Ravens defense has still been very giving. With Stefon Diggs demanding heavy coverage all game, Gabe Davis will be a popular second read for Josh Allen (and his first read in the red zone). With all of the points that will be scored this game (O/U 51), I think Davis could end up with one of his infamous three+ TD games.
Sleepin’ around the league
Lawrence has started to look like the prospect we all thought he would be, and I think he could shine again this week against the Eagles. Lawrence and the Jags just stunned the Chargers in their massive 38-10 upset in LA. Against a stout Chargers defense, Lawrence completed 28 passes for 262 yards and three TD. Now going up against the league’s final remaining undefeated team, Lawrence will be airing it out all game long. I think this game will be closer than most expect, due in part to Lawrence putting the team on his back and making big plays in order to keep up with the Eagles. Lawrence has averaged nearly 20 fantasy points per game through the first three weeks of the season.
Penny has yet to have a breakout game this season, but that is coming this week against the Detroit Lions. The Lions are very banged up on offense and are missing a few of their key playmakers. Notably, with Amon-Ra St. Brown and D’Andre Swift sidelined, this offense will be struggling without their two best players. Enough so to keep the Seahawks in this game. If they want to win, they need to attack Detroit’s biggest weakness, their 32nd ranked rush defense. Matchup is great and the competitive game script will keep Penny on the field.
WR Richie James
With Sterling Shepard out for the season, Kadarius Toney and Wan’Dale Robinson both ruled out, Richie James Jr. is the Giants #1 receiver this week. Even with his other receivers on the field, James Jr. has garnered 5+ targets in all three games. He knows how to get open and will now be Daniel Jones’ #1 look. Don’t expect him to have a monster week, but consider him a safe streamer if you need one this week.
Tonyan will need to become a necessary piece of the Packers offense this season, given the health of their receiving room (and the receivers themselves). This week, Tonyan takes on a Patriots defense that is solid all around. Except for TEs, against which they rank 29th. Green Bay are projected to score about 24 points. I expect Tonyan to be involved getting them down the field from the beginning and wouldn’t be shocked if Tonyan catches his first TD of the season
