Fantasy: Drake Emerges as a Good Option

Kenyan Drake vs Giants

Another week, another nailbiter. The Ravens suffered their first road loss of the season against the Giants 20-24. A game that could have and should have been won. But in typical Ravens fashion, they blew the lead and allowed a 4th quarter comeback. While there is genuine cause for concern, at least the Ravens organization as a whole is addressing it. Coaches and players alike throughout the organization were said to have had conversations about what has been happening, why it is happening, and how to fix it. While it certainly wont be fixed in a week, I find it hard to believe that the Ravens wont figure this out sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, keep the faith and realize this is still a Super Bowl-caliber team, and the Ravens are one of 31 NFL teams that have some things still to figure out. Seems like the only team that really has their $#!+ together is The other Birds!

This week, the Browns will be in hostile territory. M&T Bank will be full of Baltimore fans that are getting impatient, frustrated, and candidly, pretty pissed off (As we deserve to be!) But realize that the organization as a whole, and the players especially, are just as pissed. Bad things are brewing for the Browns this week. The atmosphere will be electric. I’m feeling a win!

Ravens- Browns Fantasy Outlook

Start ‘Em

Kenyan Drake

With JK Dobbins being sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks due to arthroscopic knee surgery and Gus Edwards being activated for his first game back, I expect Drake to be a key player again this week. As they did with Dobbins, the Ravens will ease Edwards back into the game, leaving the bulk of the carries to Drake with Gus & Justice Hill getting touches here and there. While I still don’t believe Drake is a great player, he showed some juice last week! Drake ran the ball 10 times for 119 yards and a TD, and added 8 yards on 1 reception. If Drake still has some juice left for this week, I expect him to have a flex-worthy day. The Browns rank 2nd to last in total defense & rush defense, while giving up the 5th most fantasy points to RBs.The stars are aligning again this week for Drake.

Amari Cooper

Cooper is coming off of a second straight game with 12 targets, and has had double digit targets in four of six games thus far. Receivers have enjoyed playing the Ravens this season, given that the Ravens surrender the 5th most fantasy points to WRs. The Browns are 6.5-point away underdogs in a divisional game. Its going to be a good one and Cooper will be heavily involved, start to finish.

Sleepin’ around the league

Tua Tagovailoa

Yes, it is scary to start Tua in his first game back from his controversial concussion injury. Just one bad hit and he could be out indefinitely. But their matchup against Pittsburgh could not be any more ideal for his first game back. The Steelers defense has been struggling this season and their pass rush isn’t lethal enough without T.J. Watt to consistently pressure him. Tua has Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle that can take a quick slant to the house just as easily as a deep ball down the middle of the field. Tua is a great second option this week, if you have a bye or injury.

Ezekiel Elliott

Zeke and The Cowboys take on the Lions, who have been a blast to watch this season. With a healthy roster, the Lions offense can be overwhelming. But their defense on the other hand, is just as easy to break through as single ply toilet paper. Zeke has been more disappointing than most of us expected, but this will be his best week of the season thus far. The Lions defense is dead last across the board and give up the most fantasy points to RBs in the league. The Lions offense is good enough to keep this game close, but with Dak Prescott returning and the strength of this Dallas defense, its going to be a good one. I expect Dallas to gain a slight lead and then lean on their RBs to keep the ball & the clock moving.

Alec Pierce

Coming off of three straight double-digit fantasy games, Pierce is a solid streaming option again this week against the Titans. Pierce has garnered 22 targets through the last three weeks and now plays the Titans defense that ranks bottom 5 in pass defense and let up the most fantasy points to WRs in the league. The Colts defense isn’t anything to be afraid of either. This game could go either way and I expect it to be competitive down to the end. Both teams will have a great day on the ground (Jonathan Taylor & Derrick Henry), but whichever team can move the ball through the air better will likely come away with the W.

Foster Moreau

With Hunter Renfrow & Mack Hollins questionable to play, and Waller already declared out, Moreau could be a solid streaming option this week. Carr could probably throw the ball to Davante Adams every single play and still win, but that wont happen. Moreau will play a crucial role in a badly beaten up Raiders offense, against the Texans. The Texans rank 27th in overall defense and 23rd against the pass. While the Raiders may not need to pass too often this week, there just aren’t many options for Carr. Moreau is solely a volume play this week, with TD upside especially with a high implied point total of 26.
