FAN’S CHOICE: Ravens All-Time Team, Safety

The contributors to the Ravens success have been many and to acknowledge them we want your help in assembling the greatest Ravens team of all-time. We’ll target a 53-man squad and an 8-man practice squad and ask you to vote by position. The configuration of this fictitious roster will mirror a typical John Harbaugh squad.

So far we’ve tackled the position of center and as of now Matt Birk is the runaway leader.

Today we’ll touch down on the position of safety and here are the nominees:

 

Will Demps

  • Undrafted Free Agent signed out of San Diego State
  • Played in Baltimore from 2002-2005
  • Started 46 of a possible 57 games beside Ed Reed
  • Had 196 solo tackles, 4 INT’s, 4 forced fumbles

 

Kim Herring

  • Played in Baltimore from 1997-2000
  • Super Bowl XXXV Champion
  • Started in 43 of 54 games as a Raven
  • Had 159 solo tackles, 4 INT’s, 3 forced fumbles

 

Dawan Landry

  • Drafted by Ravens in Round 5 ( overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft
  • Played in Baltimore from 2006-2010
  • Started in 62 of 64 games with the Ravens
  • Ed Block Courage Award Winner in 2009
  • Had 279 solo tackles, 9 INT’s, 2 forced fumbles, 3 TD’s

 

Stevon Moore

  • 7th round pick (181st overall) of the NY Jets in 1989
  • Played in Baltimore from 1996-1999
  • Started in 45 of 53 games with the Ravens
  • Had 198 solo tackles, 5 INT’s

 

Ed Reed

  • First round pick in 2002, 24th overall
  • Played in Baltimore from 2002-2012
  • 9-time Pro Bowler, 8-time All Pro
  • 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year
  • Most interception return yards in NFL History
  • Member of Sporting News Team of the Decade
  • Had 504 solo tackles, 61 INT’s, 11 forced fumbles, 13 TD’s

 

Eric Turner

  • Second overall pick in 1991 by Cleveland Browns out of UCLA
  • Pro Bowler for Ravens in 1996
  • Played in Baltimore for one season (1996)
  • Had 68 solo tackles, 5 INT’s

 

Rod Woodson

  • Played in Baltimore from 1998-2001
  • Played safety in Baltimore for 3 seasons
  • 11-time Pro Bowler; represented Ravens in Pro Bowl 3x’s ~ 1999-2001
  • Super Bowl XXXV Champion
  • Had 176 solo tackles, 14 INT’s, 3TD’s, 3 forced fumbles (as a safety)
