The Baltimore Ravens rookie class has already gotten to work and now they have the numbers they will wear in their first NFL stop. The number 81 is due for a glow-up in Baltimore and it goes to Devontez Walker. 81 was Anquan Boldin’s number and since then nobody has been able to do it justice. That’s a bold number choice for the rookie wide receiver from UNC. Nate Wiggins getting number 2 is also bold. J.K. Dobbins is gone and his number is switching to the defensive backfield for cornerback T.J. Tampa.

Baltimore Beatdown’s Joshua Reed gave his takes on the undrafted free agents that have a chance to make the Ravens’ roster this August. One of the players highlighted was Maryland cornerback Beau Brade. Reed wrote this about Brade’s situation:

While the Ravens took a safety in the 2024 NFL Draft, it didn’t come until their final pick with the selection Sanoussi Kane, who is more of a pure box safety than an ideal replacement for Geno Stone, who departed in free agency. Enter Brade, who was a surprising prospect who wound up going undrafted after many pundits projected to go as early as the fourth round.”

There’s going to be some competition here. You can never have enough cornerbacks and the Ravens will have to fill the back end of their rotation. With Nate Wiggins and T.J. Tampa getting into the mix and Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Stephens still in place, there are at least four cornerback spots taken. Kane, Brade, and some returning corners who still need to prove themselves will be competing for one or two roster spots so special teams could be the biggest difference.

Reed also offered Joe Evans, a pass rusher from Iowa as a player who could beat the odds in training camp.

The former Big Ten standout was another surprising prospect who went undrafted after putting up impressive numbers on a vaunted Hawkeyes defense during his college career but it likely could be attributed to his less-than-desirable arm length at just 30.5 inches. Throughout 50 games in five seasons, he recorded 28 sacks including four in just four games as a true freshman in 2019, seven in 2021, 6.5 in 2022 and a career high 9.5 in 2023. Evans also recorded four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and six batted passes during his career.

It’s the measurables that held Evans back from being drafted. He passes the eye test though. I wouldn’t be shocked if he became a preseason darling and worked himself up to at least having a chance. I see it.

Jake Rohm tweeted out a short clip of Roger Rosengarten, stating that he could end up becoming a starter this season. The Ravens may be hoping Rosengarten can take the big jump into the NFL that smoothly. They traded Morgan Moses to the New York Jets before the draft. There’s going to be a competition for the job. For a guy who needs to bulk up a little bit, according to pundits, Rosengarten looks rock solid here. Rohm got to interview Rosengarten at the Ravens mini-camp.

Warren Sharp shared a graph that displays his calculated most valuable draft classes in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Ravens got in his top 10, coming in seventh. That’s the good news. The bad? If you put stock into this, you may not want to hear that Sharp had the Steelers and Chiefs both in the top five.

Ready. Set. Monday.
