Ravens Running Backs ~ A Look Back

Running Backs. Perhaps not a dying breed but clearly it’s a position that has lost some of its luster in the modern day NFL. It’s a position that teams are careful not to over-draft. It’s a position that teams are reluctant to overpay. But it always hasn’t been that way.

During their 24-year history, Ravens running backs have been critical to the team’s success. Part of the Ravens reliance upon the ground game stems from game management. Baltimore has been a team built around controlling the football and the clock, playing great defense while shortening the team for the offense, and winning the battle of turnovers. Consequently, the Ravens may have been more reliant upon fullbacks than most other teams.

Up to now, you’ve participated with us by voting on the following positional groups. Click on any of the groups to see where the voting currently stands – there are a few surprises.

Secondary
Linebackers
Defensive Linemen
Special Teams
Offensive Linemen

In this edition of the Ravens All-Time Best team, we’ll ask you to help us pick 3 running backs and 1 fullback. I have opted not to include three very good players from these lists of Ravens running backs due to a limited amount of games played at the position: Lorenzo Neal, Mark Ingram and Pat Ricard.

So without further ado, we welcome your votes. Let’s begin with the best six tailbacks…
