Cutting The Cable Cord

If you’re a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and you don’t live in an area where you can watch them, you probably subscribe to a cable service so you can see them play. Thankfully, you can get rid of cable and still watch the Ravens play on Fubo or Hulu. Streaming Ravens games just got easier.

This year’s season looks particularly good so you don’t want to miss any Ravens games. They start with a road game in Las Vegas against the Raiders, followed by the home-opener against the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs.

After winning their final five games last season, the Ravens finished second to the Steelers in the AFC North. Here’s hoping this year they can do even better.

Why Leave Cable TV?

If you’re not in the local market or have reception problems, you probably think you have to subscribe to cable TV to watch the games. But the truth is: you don’t have to subscribe to cable.

Surveys suggest that as many as 90% of the channels on cable TV go unwatched. But, you still have to pay for them. Disputes between networks and cable companies can blackout your favorite teams for months and months — not to mention local NFL blackouts when M&T Bank Stadium doesn’t sell out.

How to Watch Ravens Games on Hulu

One option that will let you watch Baltimore Raven football games is to subscribe to Hulu Live. With Hulu Live basic service, you will get 60 channels that include plenty of sports channels including:

  • TNT
  • BTN
  • Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2
  • ESPN and ESPN 2
  • CBS
  • Golf
  • NBC and NBCSN

It was just announced that you can get the NFL Network and NFL RedZone on Hulu Live at no extra cost.

With Hulu Live, you don’t need a contract and you can cancel at any time. For $64.99 per month, you get a total of 75 channels, 50 hours of cloud DVR, and your local channels are included at no extra cost.

To get Hulu Live, you will need a supported device like:

  • Apple TV
  • Smart TVs from brands like Samsung, LG, and Vizio
  • Streaming devices like Chromecast, Roku, and Fire TV
  • A PC or Mac computer
  • Xbox, Nintendo, or a PlayStation gaming console

You should have at least 3 Mbps for streaming most of their content, but it is recommended that you have speeds of 8 Mbps for live streams and 16 Mbps for 4k content.

The next step is to go to the Hulu website, where you can get a free 7-day trial. To sign up, you will need a US-issued credit card or debit card or another type of digital payment like PayPal, a Hulu gift card or Venmo. Fill out the information and then click submit.

Once you log in, you can set up your home network. To set up a home network, you need a residential internet connection, not a mobile connection. Click on the Live TV icon and select the channel you want to watch. Hulu will also load a live TV guide.

How to Watch Ravens Games on Fubo

Fubo is similar to Hulu. Their sports channels include:

  • NFL Network
  • NFL RedZone
  • CBS and NBC
  • CBS Sports
  • Fox, Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2
  • ESPN1 and ESPN2
  • Golf Channel
  • Big 10 Network

Fubo requires no contract and costs $64.99 per month (the same as Hulu Live). However, NFL RedZone costs an additional $10.99. Your subscription will renew automatically each month until you decide to cancel. You will get 115 channels, 130+ events in 4k and 30 hours of cloud DVR space with the Fubo starter package.

The supported devices for Fubo include platforms like smart TVs, computer browsers, mobile devices, streaming devices and tablets. This includes devices like:

  • Google TV devices from companies like Sony, Sharp and TCL
  • Apple TV
  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Chromecast
  • Hisense
  • LG televisions manufactured since 2018
  • Samsung Smart TVs since 2015
  • Roku
  • Xbox One, Xbox S and Xbox X

Setting up Fubo will depend on your device. For example, the procedure for a Samsung Smart TV is as follows:

  • On your television screen, go to the Apps screen
  • Look for the magnifying glass icon in the upper-right corner of your screen and click on it to search for Fubo
  • Once Fubo has been located, select install, which will then download the Fubo app to your Smart TV
  • Then you will select Open to start the Fubo app
  • Sign in to start streaming

You are allowed up to six profiles on Fubo so that each person in your household can personalize their favorite shows, series, recordings and channels.

On both Hulu and Fubo, the Baltimore Ravens must be showing in your market to see the game. Both packages are similar, except that on Fubo, you have to pay $10.99 extra to watch the NFL RedZone. Both apps have plenty of sports channels for even the most avid sports fan.
