I won’t lie: when Justin Tuckers’ 67-yard field goal attempt was up in the air on Sunday, I thought it was going in. How could I not? We’ve seen him pull the Ravens out of their own messes time and again.

That’s the magic of Justin Tucker and his ability to bail his team out of almost any game. The unthinkable becomes the expected.

But Tucker’s attempt fell torturously short, leaving the Ravens and their fanbase to feel, well, like this:

It’s not just that the Ravens lose, it’s how they do it. They again led a game by two possessions in the fourth quarter but could not find a way to hold on.

Nothing felt right. Gus Edwards averaged just 3.3 yards per carry on 16 attempts while Justice Hill and Kenyan Drake combined for just three touches. Demarcus Robinson and Mark Andrews suddenly became allergic to catching the ball. Devin Duvernay had the worst game of the year on offense and special teams.

And that was just on offense, who moved the ball well but scored just 27 points in five red zone trips. They didn’t reach the end zone until the fourth quarter, at which point the defense’s collapse was already underway.
Ravens' 28-27 loss to Jags today was record-setting …
This is the Jaguars' first win in franchise history when trailing by 7 or more points in the final minute of regulation.
They were 0-175 in franchise history entering the day, per @EliasSports.

The Ravens have invested a ton in this defense, and it didn’t come through when it mattered most. Despite a remarkably sound effort against a solid offense for three quarters, it was again the final 15 minutes that doomed Baltimore’s defense.

They managed to hold the Jaguars to a field goal after the Gus Edwards fumble, but Trevor Lawrence picked on Marcus Peters and Brandon Stephens for the entire 4th quarter to complete the comeback. And that happened with Zay Jones as TLaw’s top receiver, not the Stefon Diggs, Travis Kelce or Ja’Marr Chase the Ravens may see in the playoffs.

The Jaguars are a better team than their record indicates, and the Ravens are still in first place in the AFC North. The season isn’t over, but if Baltimore wants to have any shot of making a deep playoff run, they’re going to need a lot more of this:
Lamar Jackson's 62-yard completion to DeSean Jackson traveled 63.2 yards in the air, the longest completion of @Lj_era8's career.
DeSean Jackson reached a top speed of 21.72 mph, the 3rd-fastest speed by a ball carrier this season. https://t.co/TNGYUtBTFD

We’re on to Denver…
One Response
He’s been bailing them out for years because of Harbaugh’s stale, antiquated, boring offense! And, frankly, it’s agonizing to watch! Time for a change in coaching at the top…….
