The Baltimore Ravens are a team that appears to have everything you could need for an impressive 2023 season. They have star players such as Lamar Jackson and Odell Beckham, as well as an accomplished head coach, John Harbaugh, who will be looking to lead his team to victory in the coming year. The 2022 NFL season for the Baltimore Ravens was promising and set them up to strive for an even more successful 2023 season. Below we will go through what the coming season may look like for the Baltimore Ravens and discuss the goals for the team this year.

Baltimore Ravens 2022 Season

The 2022 NFL season was full of ups and downs for the Baltimore Ravens after an impressive preseason where they won three out of three games. This took their preseason record to 23 wins in a row which is actually a record in the NFL. The Ravens started their 2022 NFL season strong, winning 7 out of their first 10 games, making them one of the top teams in the league at the time when it came to NFL Betting Lines. However, this was not to last. Largely due to injuries of key players, including J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Devin Duvernay, and Rashod Bateman, the performance of the team dropped, and the Baltimore Ravens finished the season with a record of 10-7.

However, not everything went wrong for the Ravens in 2022, as they still managed to secure themselves a spot in playoffs. One of the game’s most electrifying players, Lamar Jackson, unfortunately suffered a knee injury in week 13 in a game against the Broncos, which took him out of the squad for playoffs. This undoubtedly hurt the Ravens’ chances during the playoffs, and after a heart-breaking defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals, their season ended.

Overall, the Baltimore Ravens did improve on their previous season, where they finished with a record of 8-9, and if it wasn’t for key players picking up injuries throughout the year, the team could have had a very good season. The Ravens will look to 2023 as an opportunity to show just how much they have improved over the last few years, and many people will look to star players such as Lamar Jackson to be the ones to lead them to many victories and potentially some trophies.

If you are trying to figure out how the new season will go for the Baltimore Ravens, then it is a good idea to take a look at who the star players are as well as the new additions to the squad. Below we will discuss two of the most talked about players to keep an eye on.

Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson signed a 5-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, which is worth a staggering $260 million, making him the highest-paid player in the league, averaging a yearly salary of around $52 million with $135M guaranteed. This contract was critical to the Ravens’ future as they have now guaranteed a roster spot for one of the best players in the league over the next 5 years. Jackson was awarded the MVP award back in 2019, and many people have high expectations for him to continue leading the Ravens to victories in the future.

The impact of Lamar Jackson on the Ravens squad is clear to see. When he isn’t playing, the team results drop significantly. In the last two seasons, Jackson has missed out on playing 5 games in each season. In 2021, the Ravens were on top in the AFC North however, when Jackson suffered an injury to his ankle in Week 14, causing him to miss out on the rest of the season, the Ravens ended up finishing in last place in their division for the year.

Jackson became the starter for the Ravens back in 2018, and since then, the Ravens have a record of 45-16 when he has played and 4-8 when he hasn’t, showing just how crucial he is as a player to the team. In addition to this, the Ravens average 28 points per game when Lamar Jackson is playing and only 17.2 points per game when he isn’t. For the Ravens to have a successful season, it is crucial for Jackson to stay fit and healthy throughout the season.

Odell Beckham

Odell Beckham is making a return to the NFL after taking last season off due to an ACL injury. Beckham has signed a 1-year deal with the Ravens, and it is the hope that he will improve the quality of the wide receivers in the squad. Odell Beckham ranks in the top 10 NFL players in history when it comes to receiving yards per game. It is the hope that Beckham’s talent as a wide receiver will give Lamar Jackson support to make plays and score points for the team.

Conclusion

There are high hopes for the Baltimore Ravens going into the 2023 season however, for it to be a successful year for the team, they have to make playoffs and also win. The Baltimore Ravens have already shown that they have what it takes to make playoffs, but they need to show that they are capable of taking it to the next level and winning. In their last 3 out of 4 playoff appearances, Baltimore has lost its first game. However, with the new additions to the squad and key players such as Lamar Jackson coming back from injury, there are high hopes for the Ravens to have a great season and a strong playoff run.

  1. This is the season. The last 2 seasons have been underwhelming. The 2 main issues being injuries and an under-performing offense in comparison to the rest of the league.

While I agree that Lamar and OBJ will be very important this upcoming season, I don’t think they are that important. We have an up and coming DC in Mac and the defense will be among the best in the league. The offense is loaded and new OC Todd will raise the level of play to be comparable to other top rated offenses in the league. ST will be strong as usual.

What’s my point. We are more than 2 players. This is a loaded team. I think we have improved in talent and coaching this off season. The main issue will be how healthy we can stay this season. If we limit the injuries then we will see a Super Bowl. It’s not about 2 players, it’s about staying healthy this season.
