Out to Lunch: Marlon Says Ray Rice was Short on 4th and 29

Happy Tuesday, Flock. DA here filling in for the vacationing Kevin McNelis. Let’s see what’s poppin’, shall we?

First up today, Troll Black Belt Marlon Humphrey reminded us all why he should never be given access to a phone:

The man just can’t help himself.

Let’s go to the tape, shall we?

(you’ll have to click over to YT to watch it at the above link)

4th and 29

Read ’em and weep, Marlo. Let us not also forget that Gene Steratore’s crew reviewed the play for what felt like an eternity before spotting the ball WELL past the marker.

Next he’ll tell us Jimmy Smith held at the end of Super Bowl XLVII. Somebody, take this man’s phone.

Back to our current crop of heroes in purple, we have this awesome video of Lamar Jackson giving his youngest fans high fives at training camp, giving one kid in particular a moment he doesn’t seem likely to ever forget.

As we look for new ways to rep our Ravens in 2023, old heads like Adam and I find ourselves telling the new fashions of today’s youth to get the heck off our lawns.

Truly hideous, NFL. I’m a guy whose wife has to basically give me an annual hat budget I’m not supposed to eclipse, and these things do absolutely nothing to make me want to break out the credit card.

This is my favorite Ravens cap, which is currently hanging on the wall awaiting game day:

This one isn’t bad either (also on the wall…sorry honey!)

Moving on from the world of Flock Flashion, I am not sure many of us understand just how good Kyle Hamilton was in his rookie season.

Derwin James is still considered The One That Got Away by a certain segment of Ravens fans, after the Ravens traded pick 16 to Buffalo, then the Chargers took James at 17. The Ravens took tight end Hayden Hurst at 25, before moving back up to take Lamar Jackson at 32. Hamilton though, taken four years later, looks to be cut from the same mold as James. He’s one guy we can’t wait to watch in 2023.

Another player we’re pumped to watch is JK Dobbins, but that’s a different story. Dobbins has joined his running back brethren in expressing discontent about the position’s pay scale, and hasn’t been participating in training camp. The team brought in veteran Melvin Gordon, much to the chagrin of many. However, Gordon’s contract details came out this week, and it isn’t nearly what we were originally told:

Gordon, though, may have spilled some beans this week:

So we kinda knew that, but we didn’t KNOW that, because nobody in the organization had come out and said so. Gordon is likely being called into Coach Harbaugh’s (or Chad Steele’s) office about this interview. We circle the wagons here, Gordon!

That’s it from me today. I’m off to see the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie with my six-year-old, and I’m not sure which one of us is more excited.
