Happy Hump Day, Flock!
Yesterday at the Under Armour Performance Center, in addition to the second day of OTAs, there were some special guests in the house. John Harbaugh’s father Jack and brother-in-law Tom Crean former head basketball coach at Georgia, Indiana, and Marquette Universities, were in town to help the Baltimore Ravens head coach announce the Harbaugh Coaching Academy.
From the press release:
The Harbaugh Coaching Academy (HCA) is a resource for coaches at all levels across all sports. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, HCA offers numerous coaching tools for youth, high school, and college coaches, as well as teachers, instructors, and parents.
The content can be found at HarbaughCoachingAcademy.org all at no cost.
“The Harbaugh Coaching Academy has truly been in development since we were kids,” John Harbaugh stated. “HCA was born of thousands of coaching lessons learned over the years. It’s a culmination of decades of coaching experience, working with coaches and leaders committed to empowering other coaches who aim to have a greater impact on youth performance and well-being – regardless of the sport.”
HarbaughCoachingAcademy.org offers advice, experiences, stories, motivation, methodology and techniques for coaches today.
The website has an extensive video library featuring interviews with some of the most accomplished names in sports, business, military, and media. Andy Reid, Sean McVay, Tony Dungy, Dick Vermeil, and Tee Martin are just a few who lend their philosophy, teachings, and insights to HCA.
It also includes videos from inside numerous Ravens team meetings, giving an unfiltered look at how Harbaugh has coached his team over the years.
Pretty neat. I’ve been coaching my son’s tee-ball/coach-pitch teams for a few years now, and I know I need all the help I can get. Maybe I’ll roll up next practice calling them mighty men or something…
When it comes to coaching, one would be hard pressed to find a more accomplished family than the Harbaughs, truly. This will likely be a great resource for a great many leaders & developers of young people. Kudos to the Harbses.
There was one more surprise attendee for the announcement: none other than Bill Belichick himself.
Bill Belichick joined Coach Harbaugh at the UAPC today as a guest speaker at his annual coaches clinic.

Will Bill’s page on the site describe how to stumble into the Greatest Quarterback of All-Time?
I kid, I kid.
Kinda.
In Ravens news, they hosted a veteran safety at The Castle for a visit yesterday.

This news immediately elicited pushback from the Flock, who noted that the Ravens have already been burned once by a former Seattle safety with attitude problems.
We all remember the Earl Thomas debacle.
Adams, a one-time first-team All-Pro (2019) and two-time second-teamer (2018, 2020), saw his last three seasons end due to injury. In 2021, he tore his labrum in Week 13, and in 2022 he tore his quad in the second quarter of the season’s first game, ending his campaign. He played in just nine games last season, citing lingering knee soreness stemming from the torn quadricep as well as mental health concerns.
In addition to the knee injury that is being cited now? That reasonable possibility centers on a mental health concern, something we do not mention frivolously. It’s impacted our family. It’s likely impacted yours.
And maybe it is impacting the Seahawks, too. … in a way they are careful to not speak of, and in a way that causes us to wonder if privately, the club would be fine if he “stayed home from work” permanently.
“It’s been so difficult on him,” coach Pete Carroll said of Adams’ physical battle to rehab through lingering knee soreness stemming from a torn quad tendon that essentially cost him the entire 2022 season. “He has not been able to get all the way where he’s got everything feeling right.”
