With Baltimore’s first preseason game less than one week away, news around Charm City and Training Camp itself is really starting to pick up. While many spots are likely filled given the Ravens’ particularly strong roster, there are a few up for grabs. Enter WR Russell Gage:

Gage, who is coming off a serious injury, has a fairly strong track record for a free agent pickup so late in the offseason. The 28-year old has spent his entire NFL career in the NFC South, with the Falcons and Buccaneers, but has been a consistent role player across his five seasons.

While the Ravens do already have a plethora of options, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Gage sneak his way onto the roster.

If he does see snaps in purple and black, there’s one player we know it won’t be in place of, and that’s now second-year target Zay Flowers. The former Boston College product had an exciting rookie season and flashed serious potential, which it looks like he’s already building on in 2024:

That Jackson-to-Flowers connection was already strong, but I’m expecting even bigger things from the duo this season. However, a key to that relationship flourishing (and potentially a reason for the Gage signing) will be Rashod Bateman.

We continue to hear so much about Bateman’s impressive offseason, but he has historically struggled with injuries, and he’s picked up another:

Luckily, Head Coach John Harbaugh made the encouraging statement on Tuesday that it shouldn’t be serious:

On the defensive side, in the case of Arthur Maulet and Odafe Oweh, there’s a little more uncertainty, but on the bright side, Baltimore did see rookie EDGE Adisa Isaac return to practice:

I’ve talked so much about the next-steps needed from Oweh and David Ojabo, but if Isaac is able to burst onto the scene in his rookie season, Baltimore’s pass rush could be right back at the top of the league ranks. He had 7.5 sacks in his final year at Penn State – if he matches that total, look out!

Either way, one of Tuesday’s other highlights was QB Lamar Jackson’s interview with CBS Sports. Asked if this upcoming season would finally be the one in which his Ravens get over the hump, Jackson’s response was humble but confident:

It’s always interesting thinking about potential parallels with historical success. If Jackson and company are able to pull this off, though, especially in Jacoby Jones’ hometown and the stadium in which he had such an incredible performance, it would be special.

Outside of major news, there were some fun quick-hits from Tuesday’s practice, which I’ve outlined below.

First, Zay Flowers received a bouquet of his namesake from a creative fan:

Next, Charlie Kolar introduced a new diet that I might have to try:

And finally, Coach Harbaugh got in on the action with fumble recovery drills while being drenched to imitate the elements:
