How Will The Ravens do in 2024-25?

We’ve given you our Bold Predictions for the 2024 NFL Season. Now we turn our attention towards the Ravens. What will they do during the 2024 season?

The Ravens just have too many question marks to expect them to have a 2024 season that approaches that of 2023. They’ve lost significant coaching talent; they are rolling the dice with their patchwork offensive line; and they’re counting on guys who have been dealing with injuries for years to suddenly not be hurt again – namely Ronnie Stanley and Rashod Bateman.

Hopefully it will all work out – that the replacement coaches step up and lead; that Stanley’s ah-ha moments this offseason leads to a mentally and physically committed player who returns to Pro Bowl form; that Bateman finally delivers on the field in a way that his innate skills suggest. But I can’t help feeling, that’s all a lot to ask for.

I have pretty high expectations for the Ravens — as in, Super Bowl-type-of-aspirations. That being said, I think it’s one of those seasons that starts out in fits and spurts, one side gets its legs underneath it and carries the team to a few wins, and then things get rolling into the playoffs.

Why the sporadic start? Coaching and personnel changes on defense, and a new-look offensive line with a new coaching voice overseeing it. I there should be no surprise if there are hiccups on both sides of the ball at the start. But I trust the staff, I trust the stars and I trust the general vibes around the team. They have been hardened. It’s time to win.

I like this Ravens team this year but I would be surprised if they are as good as last year. The schedule is harder, you have a new offensive line (although I think this is being overrated by some) and you are relying on a lot of off injured and/or inexperienced guys at key positions and that could hurt them.

I think the Ravens are around an 11-win team. I think they are a playoff team. The division is up in the air.  Cincinnati has an easier schedule but some off field issues too. I lean towards Cinci winning the division but I think it could go either way.

My biggest worry about the Ravens is if they have what it takes between the ears to win the biggest games. I personally think the answer is no, so I’m going with them winning one playoff game and then losing in the next round.

Good but ultimately disappointing season.

Last season, the Ravens were a handful of plays away from a trip to the Super Bowl. It was painfully close, and the offseason would see meaningful departures. They’ll be felt, surely, especially along that offensive line, but this front office has done a really good job developing players to be the next man up. Trenton Simpson appears locked and loaded to start at iLB, the secondary depth is the best we’ve seen it in a long time, and Andrew Vorhees looks like he’s 100%. Now, you add the massive X-factor of Derrick Henry into one of the league’s best rushing offenses, and they look poised to trample a lot of their opposition.

In terms of their success, the Ravens need that O-line to gel early, and they need to keep their big names healthy. Both are easier said than done, but if those two things can happen, the sky’s the limit for this team.

I keep hammering home the point that the Ravens will have a chance. If this team stays relatively healthy, it’s a Super Bowl-caliber roster. I believe the offensive line will find its footing and the secondary will be dominant. I believe Derrick Henry will make a huge difference for the offense. Since 2019, the Ravens have been the number one seed twice. When Lamar Jackson plays a full season, the Ravens are dangerous. They have a chance, and this time they can finally break through.

I’m all in on Baltimore’s 12-year Super Bowl cycle, with great confidence that the Ravens will hoist the Lombardi again in New Orleans.

And if they don’t— John Harbaugh may just be looking at his final season as Baltimore’s head coach.

At this point, Baltimore has spent every offseason building a better and better team for Lamar Jackson, with Super Bowl worthy teams birthed in 2019, 2023 and now 2024. In years past, there was never a powerhouse addition like Derrick Henry added to the mix, and if Baltimore can’t get it done with the league’s most threatening RPO duo—well, maybe it’s not a player personnel issue.

But I’ll stop with the pessimism. As long as Baltimore’s offensive line steps up to protect the run game and Jackson, the offense should hold sturdy enough to reach another AFC Championship. Defensively, there’s too much depth to feel as worried there.

Baltimore will face the Houston Texans in the AFC Championship before going up against the Detroit Lions in the Super Bowl.

For most of the 2023 season I felt it was the prime window for the Ravens to win the Super Bowl. I still think that’s true but Eric DeCosta did an exceptional job retaining and acquiring the necessary players to be a major competitor again this year. Still, the Chiefs remain as the near impossible obstacle to get the job done.  Of course the Ravens can do it but if they will remains to be seen.

I’m not ready to give definitive predictions before the season starts. The Ravens should go deep into the playoffs and anything less than at least a trip to the AFC Championship game would be a disappointment. When expectations are high, anything less than a Super Bowl win is disappointing.

Final Record: 12-5

This feels like a nice easy floor for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. I do think they will drop more games and look more out of sync on defense than last year; however, they’ll still win the division and get a home playoff game.

How far they will advance: AFC Title game

This is going to be heartbreaking but until the Chiefs show me something else nothing is stopping them. This time they head to Arrowhead and where the season starts, it will end.

Rookie of the Year: Nate Wiggins

I already predicted he would win the NFL one so he will easily win the Ravens award as well. There is just something special about Wiggins and I think he is the next great number one corner for this team.

Most Valuable Offensive Player: Zay Flowers

Many will take Henry or Lamar but I think Zay has a year which will convince people he is a true number one wide receiver.

Most Valuable Defensive Player: Roquan Smith

This is so easy but it had to be done. Roquan is the most important piece of this team outside of Lamar.

Breakout Player: Travis Jones

We saw a defensive lineman breakout big time last year, and I think Jones will follow the same path. Jones’ Run defense has been awesome and this year his presence on the passing downs will show that he may be worthy of a contract extension.

The dawn of the NFL season, and the anticipation for Ravens fans could not be greater. Adding to the excitement, of course, is the AFC Championship Game rematch in Kansas City to kick off the year, which is shaping up to be a tense and exciting game.

But just as exciting is considering what this team can do in 2024. Eric DeCosta has once again built a roster capable of contending for the Lombardi Trophy, and winning the Super Bowl certainly seems to be the expectation around the fan base. That said, just how far will this team go?

• Lamar Jackson once again throws for over 3,500 yards, posting 37 total touchdowns and 12 interceptions
• Derrick Henry rushes for 1,000+ yards and 15+ touchdowns
• Zay Flowers cracks 1,000 yards in his sophomore season
• Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo combine for 12+ sacks
• Marlon Humphrey bounces back with a 4-INT season, while Wiggins logs 3 in his rookie year
• Trenton Simpson matches Patrick Queen’s 2023 output

The Ravens will again take the AFC North, this time with a 12-5 record that secures them the #3 seed in the conference. They’ll fall to the Cowboys in Week 3 due to some defensive growing pains under Zach Orr. Baltimore will go 3-3 in the division, considering how much the other AFCN squads beefed up in the offseason and will lose in Houston on Christmas Day.

In terms of playoffs, the Ravens will take care of business in the Wild Card against Miami but see their Super Bowl dreams falter in Arrowhead against KC, where their 2024 campaign will end.

While I know this isn’t the answer fans want to hear, I see it as this season’s most likely outcome.

But I’d love to be surprised!

The Ravens field the reigning MVP on one side of the ball, on the other side is a defense that became the first in NFL history to lead the NFL in points against, takeaways, and sacks. It’s impossible to count a that team like that out when weighing them against the rest of the league. They did lose key pieces to every level of the defense so they will need to rely on some of their younger homegrown talent to pick up where they left off and expect David Ojabo to take a big step forward and take advantage of the massive opportunity in front of him.

We are in year two of the Todd Monken experience and even with the addition of Derrick Henry, I’m expecting the passing game to take another step forward. A lot of attention will be on Henry and the explosive tight ends in between the hashes, so the opportunity is there for Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman to produce early and often. We will appreciate the addition of Derrick Henry the most down the stretch, when the weather turns and the games matter. With a weapon like him in the backfield, the Ravens will be sure to not make the same mistake again in the playoffs and stick to the winning formula which is running the ball down the opposing teams throat and playing lights out defense. A formula that will lead the Ravens back to New Orleans in the Super Bowl.
