Yesterday I reminisced about the 2010 NFL Draft and how Dez Bryant got away from Ozzie Newsome & Co. This morning I took a stroll down memory lane, perhaps inspired by my interview with the Ravens Kevin Byrne, and pondered the hiring of Ted Marchibroda as the very first head coach of the Baltimore Ravens.
What if Bill Belichick had stayed on with the franchise and instead HE was the Ravens very first head coach?
Do they win Super Bowl XXXV? Do they even get there?
Clearly in the late ‘90’s the Ravens needed a quarterback. Might the RAVENS have drafted Tom Brady in 2000? After all Belichick was the driving force behind that well-chronicled draft pick.
Just think how many careers would have changed – Brian Billick probably ends up in Cleveland; Marvin Lewis might never have become an NFL head coach; Joe Flacco probably isn’t your favorite signal caller.
Would the Ravens have won more championships by now or less?
Of course we’ll never know but one thing is clear – the topic makes for great bar room debate.
